Sounds like you had fun Bextull Yes, they do say that but that doesn't necessarily mean that you are a pro after falling 20 times! I have been riding since I was 5 and I am a good rider, I have only fallen off about 6 times

Rode through all my childhood, wonderful. All riding school ponies / horses. Then got paid to take rides out as escort to hacks. That was fun most of the time but now I dont want to pay to ride so have stopped!
I have landed up on the floor countless times. When I was young I broke my arm falling off, bare back canter to trot and I just bounced right off.
Most memorable falls one was bare back jumping when I was racing a friend in a lesson (it was a competition) and I was aiming at a set stride and horse decided previous stride was better to take off on!! I did the perfect thelwell landing!! Winded for days!!
Other most memorable fall was when I was riding a young small pony out as the escort to hacks. It did the perfect drop shoulder technique and I was straight out the side door!! My friend just turned around saw it was me and carried on!! lol

Saying that though, its probably what my instructor would do if it were me and then tell me to hurry up!!!!

Good photos, I like the first photo Annabelle I have fell off a few times like Once was when I was going over a jump with my friend's Thoroughbred (ex racehorse) and he just decided to stop and I went flying over his head Another is one of my horses sometimes randomly rolls over while I am on him! I still love him though!

I was at horse riding tonight, and words cannot describe how happy I am!!!!!!! I was on Avi tonight (and I love him!) and we were doing jumping. We had a 5 jump course set up, I was with 2 younger girls (about 7 or 8), so the jumps were low. Then Lisa says right we will all do this twice and then Rebecca we will put them up for you, I was a little uneasy at that as I hadn't done high ones for a while. So we did our courses, then she starts to higher the jumps and my heart was pounding, particularly when she decided to put up a raising double! But..... I did it!!!!! TWICE, I did the course 2 rounds in a row so it was 10 jumps! I didn't fall or fall behind Avi and Avi just rocked it!!!!!!!! I remember watching somebody on Clyde doing the same jump heights before and saying 'I'll never be able to do that'! I am just over the moon right now! I was so happy, I actually leaped down the hallway to my room to put my hat and boots away!

I use to horse ride, I only stopped a few months ago due to it becoming too exspensive. I really enjoyed it and did cantering and jumping. I still have a love of horses

bextull, I know just what you mean about the thrill. I still remember going riding at a riding school when on holiday with a friend in Italy many years ago, we were around 30 at the time. The instructor only spoke Italian & luckily we'd learnt Italian including some of the horse terms. We were trotting in the arena & the instructor kept saying (or so we thought) 'Alte gambe' or High leg so we shorted the stride or anything else we could think of but then it clicked he was saying 'Altre gambe' other leg but still couldn't work it out so changed direction everything. However we eventually got it sorted & found that in Italy they do rising trot on the other diagonal leg!!! After they established we could ride, they took us into another arena which had a line of 5 jumps - uprights - down the centre. My heart was in my mouth, then he took them down a little but they were still bigger than anything I'd done before, around 4 foot I think. He made sure we kept a loose rein so the horses (arabs) didn't get socked in the teeth & basically said let the horse do, just point them in the right direction & go with them. It was fantastic & we didn't make a hash of it. Then he took us on to their cross-country course, luckily lower jumps. we had 2 good hour long lessons at that school in that week - it was great At least during those 2 hours I didn't fall off! I've hit the ground many times, only once going to hospital to be checked for concussion but have definitely provided amusement to others around at the time, especially when it went sailing over the horses head & did a perfect head first dive & slid on the school floor. that one made me remember to keep my mouth shut in the future. Mucky sawdust isn't very tasty!! I was covered.

I found out on Thursday that Bobby, the best horse in the world, went lame He'd been missing for a while, so I asked about him and Lisa said that he went lame so the rested him and he healed up but as soon as she put him back to work again it happened again. She said he just wasn't going to be right again so she retired him. He now lives with her friend who has another horse and they are just for companions. Made me so sad! I cannot believe he is gone! I loved him, he was perfect!
