It may look like it's doing good, but who knows what's happening on the inside? I'm wary of things that cause a detox and rightfully so! I'm going to give it some more research and then make an educated decision. I really posted hoping that gypsy or smokeybear might have some reliable info. Perhaps this might help yourpetforums.co.uk/thread/410/coconut-oil

Ah, thanks a lot fatamorgana. I was sure that there had been a thread about it at some point in the past but I couldn't get the search function to work! Will have a read

Hi Avansa, nothing in life is risk free and rather than cut and paste from an internet site without stating that I have done so, i am going to paste something here from the Dogaware site written by Mary Straus: Coconut oil, unlike other plant oils, is a highly saturated fat. Some of the saturated fat in coconut oil is in the form of medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), which may provide many of its benefits. MCTs are more easily digested than other fats and can be used to supply fat and calories, and to help prevent deficiency of fat-soluble vitamins, for dogs with fat intolerance. www.dogaware.com/articles/suppsoils.htmlThere is a more indepth article on Coconut Oil here, but you need to subscribe to access it www.whole-dog-journal.com/issues/8_10/features/15754-1.htmlHTH

Thanks smokeybear, that's really helpful. I'll have a look at the links when it isn't such an unsociable hour!
