Geez guys I really don't think you have taken that as intended!!! Coconut oil seems to me to be a VERY controversial topic among dog owners, some say it works and some say it's bad and there's no point giving it to their dogs because all it'll do is put strain on the liver!! (And this seems quite a scary idea to us!) I simply meant that it seems to be a not really known thing anywhere we've seen on-line, and was saying to AVANSA that perhaps the question itself, asked of ANYONE, is a waste of time! Sorry that you all thought I meant it's a waste of time asking your opinions, that is NOT what I meant! Do you really all think that little of me that I would say something like that and then put a little smiley face on the end? :S You guys don't know me at all, do ya?

I certainly didn't mean to cause this much of a tantrum from everyone! If you re-read my post, I believe it's not offensive in the slightest. I wasn't disregarding everyone else's comments and advice, I was just saying that I hoped two people (who know A LOT about nutrition) would comment on it as well, and tagged them so hopefully they would view the post. I don't see the need for all of these horrible comments? I've just come back from a day of hard work saving the lives of wildlife, feeling pretty proud of myself and I log on to see this? Thanks guys. I'm really starting to feel pushed out of this forum, and people I trusted seem to have petty vendettas because maybe I didn't agree with their opinions in one post or another. If you all hate me that much, then fine, I'll find another forum

We don't hate you Avansa - your taking it a little bit too seriously. People weren't trying to be horrible, they just thought you and PFT were being a little unfair, and they didn't tolerate it. I think people simply took it the wrong way - its unbelievably easy to misunderstand. So don't go Avansa - I am sure we have all misunderstood one another at some point, then had comments that we didn't appreciate knock us down. Stick around

Avansa and Pawsforthought I just wanted to say at shooting yourselves in the foot! Anyway any further opinions and information I may have on the subject of coconut oil I no longer wish to share! Your loss!! I quoted this as an example of a particularly sarcy (nasty) comment. I have to say, actually, the past few weeks I have really been disgusted with the way some members speak to other human beings. Lets forget 'younger' 'older' members, we are all supposed to be FRIENDS on here, and I did previously consider, for example, caz2golden a friend. Also I have to say it's understandable if someone wants the opinion of a vet nurse or someone who has studied nutrition when it comes to the health of their pet and there are scary stories on-line! It's fine to be upset about the wording of something, but it's rather petty to deliberately withhold information that might be important for the HEALTH of an animal..! Do you care about a member of someone's family that little? The forum changeover has really screwed up the dynamic we had, and I am seriously considering not posting anymore. After a few years being on it, I can honestly say this is the pettiest, nastiest and bitchiest the forum has ever been. I don't know exactly how things have changed, and I don't blame any members in particular or anything like that. It's just a shame. Usually criticism would have, at worst, made me feel a bit stupid. Now I feel like crying, and that's quite a rare thing for me. I have had a really, REALLY hard, upsetting time recently, and it's not something I would usually go on about, but the thing is that (and this is what I mean when I say it disgusts me) I come on here to get away from the crap in my life and for a long time, this forum was a sanctuary for me. I felt like I really belonged, and this was through times where my friends used to laugh at me for loving dogs so much. People are so quick to jump on people's mistakes now. *I* (not Avansa, so I don't know why we were immediately lumped together...) worded something wrong! And suddenly we're the most hated members on the forum. I was raised to appreciate loyalty and to stick up for my friends. Sometimes, on the internet, people word things wrong. It's human, and I usually notice it in others and read between the lines. I'm upset that no one showed me the same courtesy before going for the jugular!

Stick around It's easy to say you're taking it too seriously when you're not the one under fire Thank you for understanding and trying to get this thread back on track I have been in the same position before, and tried to take into consideration people telling me not to take it too seriously. I understand how your feeling - it makes you feel very low when you feel like everyone is against you. I personally would be sad if you stopped posting. And Avansa too. You both, to me, are experienced, and lovely members of the forum. And no problem about that. I do understand, all too well, in fact. I have been in a very similar position therefore it is easier for me to 'get it'. So hopefully the last note on the unpleasantness of this thread... do stick around the forum, I value both of you. Seriously do let us know how it goes if you do start supplementing with Coconut Oil! Hopefully more members will give you more advice to help you along the way - the more advice the better! And for you both, I hope Gyspy or Smokeybear etc can give you some fab advice

Thanks BorderTerrier, that's really sweet I really appreciated the information you found for me earlier on in the thread, it's just a shame that I had already read that exact thing >.< probably looked at the same site! But thank you for taking the time to find it for me.

Wow, just wow. I don't really have any words! I think this is the second or third time you've said what a nasty forum this is. I have found most forums start off like this in the first few months, takes a while but they soon settle down into a proper community. Maybe everyone should re-read their posts before they post them.

I don't understand how you mean this post but I agree with you Maybe I just need to let this forum settle down before I get too wound up about how things were and how they are now. But I don't feel either of us deserved the level of response we got new forum or no new forum. That's fair, isn't it?

I also completely forgot to mention that when I wrote my first post in this thread, we were in a real hurry to get to wildlife volunteering so that also probably contributed to why it came out rude.
Once again, sorry folks for the misunderstanding, I do trust and respect all the opinions of those who have posted in this thread.

I think we're wasting our time a bit Avansa because most of the people here know as much as or less than us. Probably better to just keep doing our own research XD This was the post that I didn't think was right. I dont think you can't say that about other forum users and not expect them to react. i don't know all your backgrounds or how many forums you have been on but they all go thru cycles. I used to moderate a very busy female only forum which as you can imagine became very bitchy at times but people will express their opinions. As long as posts aren't taken personally then usually it works but in the above quote it was directed at members.

Having read every post on this thread, and the final outcome, I think people are too quick with responses, maybe re read what you have said before hitting the post button. Try and see if what you have written sounds offensive or condescending and pause draw breath. Trouble is its all words no one sees body language, facial expressions or tone of voice. We can read things in a bad tone can't we? Like BorderTerrier said, shes been on the end of it before, and I felt like I was too over something last weekend. So.... Can we get back to the subject of coconut oil pretty please

I used to moderate a very busy female only forum which as you can imagine became very bitchy at times but people will express their opinions. As long as posts aren't taken personally then usually it works but in the above quote it was directed at members. As I have said, I did not mean that how it sounded. Firstly, we'd been researching it for a while with no clear answers in sight and I was beginning to get a bit frustrated about that. Secondly, I was in a real rush, and I meant the question itself was a waste of time, asked anywhere of anyone, rather than it being a waste of time getting the opinions of those on here. I REALLY hope you read this and believe me, because I perhaps haven't been very optimistic seeming recently but that is due to some issues I'm having right now with my family, and not because I want to offend anyone etc. I've had to tell my supervisors at work things that have happened so they don't think I'm being a miserable so-and-so. I honestly meant like "Oh darn this coconut oil, it's a waste of time" rather than "darn these waste of timers on here, they know nothing" I did word that very badly, and I apologise! It wasn't meant how it sounded. Please just accept my apology, I've admitted *I* worded it badly and explained how I meant it! I don't think this misunderstanding warranted the level of response we got, and it would be nice if those people would acknowledge my mistake and make up for their harsh comments. I can't do any more than apologise really, so there it is!

Takes a good person to admit and apologise Paws, we all have worded posts badly in our haste.
