Some thing very sweet happened today... We had a visit from my sister and brother in law, with their 2 boys. We see them regularly and love having the boys with us. Their oldest, Logan is 7 and Autistic. he has behavioural, social and communication difficulties. He often just sits on the sofa and keeps to himself whilst his younger brother plays with our 2 children. Today, as he was on the sofa, Gus desided that Logan needed some attention. I havent seen Logan light up like that in a long time, and his mum was almost in tears with joy... Gus jumped onto Logans lap (and Logan is not fond of people/things in his personal space) and he kept head-butting Logan until he was fussed. He even then layed down on Logan's lap for a further fussing and gave him "kisses" as Logan squealed with excitement! It was the most touching sight! Logan even called Gus by his name (rather than just "cat") and was delighted! Not many people know a cat like Gus, and it just goes to show how extraordinary calm and loving he really is! That's absolutely lovely. I'd heard (but not read) of the book A Friend Like BenSounds like cats (& other animals) can really communicate/empathise with autistic children.

What a beautiful story Helen, Logan looks so happy and what a special boy Gus is, very touching and lovely to hear how Gus sat on Logan to fuss him.

Ah that's lovely and brought a tear to my eye. Thanks for sharing and lovely photos too. Me too Gladys! What a gorgeous big boy Gus is too. You often hear of animals being able to connect like this but it's nice to have a personal account shared. Thank you for sharing. It really warmed my heart tonight.

Oh Helen, how wonderful.
I have always loved Gus (he reminds me of Charlie) and now he's proved what a special cat he is.
