As a one off, we went out for the day this morning and came across a butcher! I asked for anything for dogs and they didn't have any meat but she said I could have all the bones she had. So she gave me these... DSC_0453 by Niseag, on Flickr Now I wasn't planning on feeding bones as such, so I just wanted some for chewing on and teeth cleaning. My worry is the size, they've only had bones bigger than this before and I'm concerned about choking, especially after the incident on here. So do you think they are too small? I've put a pen these to give you an idea of size...

Are they lamb bones? Have no idea, too much of a newbie myself! Sorry
May be a little smaller than I would want to give personally at the moment! My two are still learning the art of what they should be doing! So my gut feeling would be caution and watch them like a hawk while they have them.
I guess it depends on how good your dogs are with bones (do they know what to do, can you get them back easily) and the strength of their jaws (i.e will they be able to break bones into smaller bits) as to if bones pose a choke hazard!

I was thinking along the same lines as Caz. The bottom two bones look like they might be lamb shanks. They look similar to the lamb shanks that I've fed my two before. Although, possibly more the size of the two smaller ones in the pack.
The bone on the top right looks like it might be a bit of lamb breast or something?
Your dogs are bigger than mine, so I guess it would depend on how good they are, like Caz said. My two ate the bones with no problems, and I watched them like a hawk with the smaller bits because I was worried they'd try to swallow them whole. But if you don't want them to actually eat the bones, I think I'd only give them if you're sure you can get them back once the meat is gone.

I wouldn't have any problem at all giving them to Jasper, but he's had bones form as soon as we got him 9 months ago. The bones our butcher usually give us are beef rib bones. He loves them but he has to bury them first so they're always minging when he eats them. Personally I'd rather Jasper had bones like those than chicken bones that can easily get stuck in his throat. By the way I be tempted to make a borth out of them first though, lol.

Well I gave them the bottom two and the top left one this afternoon. They had them about half an hour and seemed to be enjoying them, but didn't make much of a dent in them TBH! After half an hour it was time for them to rest for an hour before their dinner, so I put the bones back in the freezer, and they can continue with them tomorrow. They STINK though. I absolutely hate the smell, and the dogs breath smells EVIL! I'm determined not to give up though

Ha ha! at least you won't find them buried in your bed like I did last night. And that was after he'd dug it up from out of my flower bed, it was as black as the ace of spades. Maybe its the smell he's trying to get rid off, and that's why he buries them first.

Oh Katy tried, she's really bad for burying things! Thankfully, never anything in the bed!

Glad that the bed stayed clean SH I was also thinking along the same lines of Caz and Orpheous. Lamb bones? Whatever they are, they are still raw meat
