Hello, thought I'd share with you about Monty. I was at Dad's last week pottering about - I was on carer duty as he'd had a minor op (all went well) so decided to do a mass onslaught of dusting and polishing as he never bothers. One of the pictues was a professional one of Monty our Burmese Blue from when I was growing up. He was there till I was about 19 when his kidneys went. Seeing the photo of me really choked me up as I remembered how he'd miaow to come into my room and cuddle under the duvet with me. It's been 20 (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) years since he went but I still miss him.

Arrr i know it still chokes us up remembering our late pets but we have so many great memories. I think of my late pets many a time. We never forget about them they are still with us in spirit.
R.I.P. Monty x

I find it a real comfort reading your post - in that time has no bearing at all - on how we still feel about the dearly, departed. Im sure Monty's spirit is around you - maybe even today - at your dads house!

I know just what you mean about how memories are triggered - I still remember the dogs from my childhood (even longer ago than your Monty!) and still occasionally dream about them (usually in scenarios that never happened!) Of course our Chloe is more recent (2008) & will always be remembered for herself & as my introduction to cat care.
What a lovely memory of Monty cuddling up under the duvet. Glad your dad's op. was OK

It just shows that after 20 (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) or so years Monty is and always will be with you-really nice story to share Time has no meaning when it comes to loss-whether it be a pet or human. The memories we have of them burn deep and as they remain forever in our hearts, they are with us constantly. Sometimes all it takes is a little reminder like a picture, to bring it all back again.

All so true. Tingler I especially liked your point - time has no meaning when it comes to loss. I remember my Mum would get choked up talking about her Dad and he'd passed over 30 years previously. I am just grateful that I, and I suspect everyone would agree, had the pets and people in my life. They made it a little richer and give me the courage to face things.
