I'm fed up with the birds getting into the cats run. I was talking to my dad on the phone and noticed one was in, it was trying like mad to get out. Sent Dave out to let it free. Ted decided he wanted out about 7 o'clock, so went back into conservatory to open window to let him out and there was another one trapped. Went to let it free and noticed a fat little baby blackbird was also trapped. Opened door and chased the sparrow out no problem. Fat baby blackbird decided to hide right in the far corner. I crept under one of the shelves that cross the run to chase the stupid thing out. It started to scream blue murder and started its parent off screeching.. Managed to chase it back into the main part of the run and stood up and turned round. WHACK. I walked right into the shelf and splattered my poor nose on it. . Air turned a bit blue then. Not amused, trying to chase the fat little git out with blood pouring from my nose. Managed to chase it through the gap it had came through and blocked it off with a brick. If any more come in,Ted can play with them. . Only joking. . Of course when i told Dave what happened he thought it was hilarious. June.x.

Can you put a smaller mesh around it maybe? I bet the cats love it as it is though, getting to chase some birds!

I think they are coming in to get bits of fur for their nests. I have tried placing some clumps in the garden and putting some on the trees, but they keep wanting it from the run. I suppose it will keep me fit having to run outside to release them. June.x.

Oh dear June, I hope your nose is OK now.
I'm afraid to say I think Lexie found a nest today as I had the present of a whole & half a very young baby birds (no feathers at all) in the kitchen so I think you are doing a great job in chasing the birds out of your run.

Ooh june sorry to hear about you nose. Is it ok? This time of year is lovely but it's such a worry keeping cats and birds/baby birds apart!?!

Yes, birds can be very stupid and I've had a couple fly into our cat pen. I hope your nose is okay now June. Last year Toffee disturbed a nest of young rats and one ran down the garden straight into the cat pen while 6 cats were in there - they were delighted! Kiba-Khan took command and decided it was his until I sent in hubby to remove it.

June hope the nose is on the mend. I whacked mine a few years back and the pain just stopped me in my tracks for a couple of minutes.
