Butcher gave me some bones (frozen)! Not perfect ones by far but they were free!! Its the first recreational style bones my dogs have and I guess I did not think how long they might last and about storage etc.
The bones have been stored well wrapped up in the fridge other than when girls had them. I guesstimate they were defrosted by late Friday.
Once totally thawed can they be re-frozen?
Girls had them yesterday for 1/2 hr or so and then I re-bagged and put back in fridge (girls were starting to slow up by this point so did not want to overdo it in one go and want to keep interest up)
They will have another go today when I can sit and watch them!
I am unsure if I should then bin them or cos they were really (and I do mean really) big I can re-freeze and give next weekend as there will be plenty of marrow, chewing potential etc left for dogs to work for.
Otherwise I guess I could try and extract the marrow and keep that!!

'They' tell you not to re-freeze normal food, so I wouldn't think it would be any different to dog edibles.

Given that it is not unusual for dogs to have bones, then bury them, then salvage them, weeks later, in a, presumably, pretty unsavoury state for further gnawing sessions, and without ill-effect, then I would have thought that any storage of bones that is an improvement on burying would be quite safe.

I know of lots of other raw feeders who would re-freeze stuff. For dogs it doesn't really matter. Mine have had stuff that has been re-frozen and were fine.

Collieslave, I had not thought of it like that! Yes I guess it is a lot better kept than a buried bone Thanks AnnaAmber, good to know stuff can be re-frozen. I would not usually do it but these bones could potentially last quite a few sessions and seems waste to bin them! They are both content at the moment in the garden with the bones. I am sat in doorway so that I can see screen of my laptop and carefully observe what they are up to!!

Caz, you can re-freeze food that has defrosted for dogs, I tend not to but that is only because I dont get the chance to refreeze anything with my greedy lot!
