Noticed she was keep going into the litter trays this morning. Dave had just put clean trays out so i noticed straight away she seemed to have some problem. She left a smelly deposit in one tray but kept going in and trying to pee. I had to nip out for an hour but Dave watched her while i was gone. When i got back she was still trying to go. Phoned the vets and explained what was happening and they advised me to take her in. After being serenaded on the way she had all the dogs barking in the waiting room. I'm sure they saw me early just to get rid of her. Anyway, she took her temperature which she didn't like at all, had a feel of her bladder, which of course was empty and gave her a thorough going over and came to the conclusion that she has probably got cystitis. She had a jab of Betamox and has to have Metacam. Only got to take her back if no signs of improvement. She must be feeling better already as she has scoffed a whole tin of tuna. She also had her anal glands emptied again. Does anyone else's cat have problems with their glands? June.x.

Oh June, sorry to hear Izzy had a rather unpleasant vet visit. Hope the meds do the trick.
Luckily we've not had an anal gland problem with our cats.

Oh poor Izzy. Good to hear that she is improving already though and hope the meds continue to help.
I had a cat that needed his anal glands emptied once in his lifetime but that was it.

Oh sorry to hear she's not well. Hope she feels better soon.
Gerri my oldest suffers from cystitis but never had a problem with anal glands. What do you feed them on?

Poor Izzy, get well soon. Misty had the anal glands emptied a few years ago. The noise that little cat made!

Hope Izzy feels better soon, I have never had an anal gland problem ...with the cats that is.
I hate taking ours to the vets when there are barking dogs there, especially when some of the owners think it is ok to let their dog come up to the cat carrier sniffing and staring at them, they don't realise the cat or kitten in the carrier will be worried, when we took the kittens for their vaccintations someone let their dog do that and all the kittens were shaking and had their tails like brushes, the nurse let us go and wait in one of the consultation rooms until it was our turn, she could tell we were worried.Hope Izzy wasn't too upset by the dogs.

Poor Izzy - not a pleasant trip to the vets for her. I hope the medication is working and she is much better now. I didn't realise cats could have problems with their anal glands, I thought it was only a doggy problem. My dog Aztec had to have his anal glands emptied 3 times over a few weeks a couple of years ago - he was not amused.
