Oh poor Big Tom, anti-freeze poisoning is not good news. Fingers crossed for him. Is he a young cat?
Your niece & neighbour must be really worried.
Good on the vet who took him in when others wouldn't.

That's really sad, only a low percentage of cats survive antifreeze poisoning.

I'm so sorry to hear that Big Tom didn't make it RIP Big Tom. This article from cats protection is quite good. www.cats.org.uk/help-and-advice/health/antifreeze-poisoningAs it states, don't forget its not just the anti-freeze in the radiator but also de-icers & screen-wash. Its not just cats but also wildlife & dogs that it affects, even humans adult & children that can be poisoned just the volume required is greater. For a cat a teaspoon can be enough! There have been calls to make anti-freeze etc less attractive to cats, but even that wouldn't stop cats being poisoned by spills as they could walk through it then wash their paws despite any bitter taste. There are non ethylene glycol products available but even they can be toxic but maybe a little less so.

Sister had a cat that used to arrive at feeding time and eat ALL the cats food he was called thumper himself and big Tom must have words because thumper stopped calling thumper arrived back two days after big Tom's passing a better behaved cat well he is now a few years older but thumper knew cats must have a network

It is strange that cats know what's going on spider. Years ago I took in a stray and when I had him pts some years later a cat that I had been feeding now and then, was sat on the windowsill.
