Our 15kg bag of food arrived today from Eden. Why we chose Eden...
Rated 5 out of 5 on WhichDogFood. We were very impressed with the... Ingredients: Fresh Chicken 19%, Dried Chicken 17%, Fresh Salmon 16%, Herring Meal 14%, Potato 10%, Sweet Potato 5%, Chicken Fat 5%, Dried Duck 4%, Dried Whole Egg 3%, Chicken Gravy 2%, Fresh White Fish 2%, Lucerne, Pea Fibre, Mineral & Vitamins, Carrot, Spinach, Apple, Joint Support Pack (Glucosamine (355mg/kg), MSM (355mg/kg) & Chondroitin (250mg/kg)), Rosehips, Camomile, Burdock Root, Aniseed & Fenugreek, Mixed Herbs (Thyme, Marjoram, Oregano and Sage), Seaweed, Cranberry and Prebiotic FOS. Comes in small and large kibble sizes. We went for the large as Bernie's current kibble (Wainwrights puppy) is so small it doesn't even touch the sides! £49.99 for a 15kg bag! And what does Bernie think?...I added a few kibble pieces to his current kibble as I want to introduce it slowly over the week. But this was completely defeated by Bernie picking out the Eden kibble and leaving the Wainwrights kibble. I guess he prefers the taste! and getting the larger kibble was a good call as he is now chewing his food! Hooray! And it must taste exceptionally good as he is currently licking the outside of the bag!

It is excellent stuff. Bryn had been on Applaws when the first bag arrived (large kibble) and for some weeks ate a mixture of the two. Applaws is really quite similar to Eden and there were no problems with the new food. He also has a dollop of Naturediet as well to give a bit of variety (using all the Naturediet flavours in rotation). And the price of Eden is good compared with, say, Orijen. I would add that Bryn has significantly less Eden than the amount suggested by the makers (we did the same with the Applaws) and he is keeping his weight stable (about 190 gms per day for an 18Kg dog).

That is just hilarious! Bernie leaving out the old food for the new food! Haha!! Glad it came and, well, Bernie seems to be liking it!!

Brilliant stuff Maybe you can help me with the amounts I should be feeding Bernie CollieSlave? He is just over 8kg, 5 1/2 months old and his adult weight will be 12 1/2kgs. Any ideas? As they only give really rough guides don't they.

Brilliant stuff Maybe you can help me with the amounts I should be feeding Bernie CollieSlave? He is just over 8kg, 5 1/2 months old and his adult weight will be 12 1/2kgs. Any ideas? As they only give really rough guides don't they. I don't pretend to be any sort of expert on nutrition!! We used to feed Burns (we are now older and wiser!!) and they recommend 10gms of food per Kg of dog - and we used that figure which proved to be fine for our two BCs. Given that there is a hell of a difference between Burns and Applaws and Eden (Burns being 67% rice, 20% chicken) we reckoned we would be quite safe giving the same amount of Applaws as Burns - for Bryn's weight (18Kg), Applaws specify 200gms per day approx. while Eden suggest 250gms which is ridiculously high. Bryn is getting about 76% of what Eden suggest and he is a (very) active Border Collie, aged about 5. He has a dollop of Naturediet as well but this is insignificant - only a twelfth of a tray to give a bit of variety. After all that, I would suggest that you can safely reduce the amount suggested by a quarter and quite possibly more - Bryn regularly has walks of between 5 and 12 miles, with a lot off-lead. BUT that is for an adult dog - I would think that your young pooch might well need a higher percentage - I know virtually nothing about puppy nutritional requirements as we only deal with adult, second-hand (rescue) dogs. It is a very long time since we had a pup. Maybe someone else on the forum could advise? Any offers? Hope this is some help.

Thank you anyway CollieSlave If I've worked it out right it should be around 190grams per day. I might just start with that and see how we go on it.

Good to hear Bernie likes his Eden. It will probably be a case of seeing what works for him as I found the amount on the bags never worked for my dogs - some of them needed less, others more - you have to tailor it to suit the dog in front of your eyes.

CurlyCub Eden only has one food for all ages and all breeds. A puppy needs more as they're growing. uk.edenpetfoods.com/feeding-guide-14-w.aspAt his current weight, 8kg, it would be 150grams a day and then because he is a puppy it says 1.5-2 times the amount! I'm really not sure!
