Tabitha has recently started "attacking" Maisie from behind. Caught them on camera last night and I'm not sure if they were rough playing or fighting. Tabitha struck from behind startling Maisie and making her cry out, which ended up with both standing on their back legs and paws were swiping and Maisie was making noises. Maisie's ears were flat on her head whilst Tabitha's were straight up. I know the age diffrence could be a factor but Tabitha is still a bit semi feral (she lived outside for 2 years). Today they were outside together and kissed noses. I think Tabitha has too much energy for Maisie, but I do play with both with the feather toy. I tried to get them eating together but Maisie just walked away.

Can you keep them in separate rooms when you are not about?

Can you keep them in separate rooms when you are not about? It's mainly at night in the garden but they have been ok today as they have been playing chase. I monitor them through the day and they seem to be ok just the occasional swipe. My son heard a cat fight outside our house early this morning, he wasn't sure if it was Maisie and Tabitha. he just saw Maisie. We have got a new cat around and started a fight yesterday outside our house, but don't know wh it was fighting with, we just heard the noises.

Just had another fight in the garden. Maisie was lying under the tree and Tabitha attacked her as she wanted the same spot, I managed to break it up but then seconds later Tabitha was staring down Maisie ready for another go. They were playing last night but not sure what is causing Tabitha to keep attacking. We are really considering contacting the rescue to see if they can rehome her, as Maisie is our main concern and it's not fair on her. I have ordered some feliway coming tomorrow and see if it calms things down. It is breaking my heart to even consider giving Tabitha back as we have done alot of work with her.

I’m sorry to hear that🥲not all cats get on , is it not possible to separate them like lotsofcats suggested just when you are not around. It may take a little time and patience for them to accept one another.

We are not giving up on her just yet. We have been monitoring them both inside and out and so far not alot of attacking from Tabitha. We are trying to correct her when she does wrong( she was mainly an outdoor cat when we got her along with 10 other cats) They have been playing chase in the garden with both Tabitha and Maisie Mai doing the chasing and play fighting, both like kangaroos on their back legs and boxing (with no noises at all) so really pleased with how thing are going. We have watched the videos back and I think it is just Tabitha being a bit boisterous and rough play as she seems to wriggle her bum before jumping on Maisie. Even saw them hunting in the garden together so hopefully we are going to be keeping her, but will be updating regularly.

I know what you mean littlekitty about not knowing if its real or play fighting. Stevie & Shady came into the rescue from the same home (owner I believe had gone into care) & are believed to be the same age but not much is otherwise known. They do chase each other & play rough sometimes, usually Stevie on top of Shady often just holding him in place by the scruff of the neck but can be the other way around. However sometimes I wonder if it is play or real fighting but so far no damage
