Just now I looked out the front window & there was a black cat body on the lawn, it was the neighbour's cat who thinks my garden is his territory & attempts to terrorise Stevie & Shady. Easily recognised as he has a problem with his coat & a little on the thin side.
I went out to the kitchen & there on the back lawn there was another black cat body curled up, couldn't see who it was, Shady was in but anyway he's ginger but Stevie was out & unless you can se his paws & nose when curled up he looks all black. So I opened the conservatory outside door which made the cat look up fro its slumber & it was another all black! I think youngish & healthy looking. I saw it a day or so ago in the same place but as soon as I went out it ran off. I left it peace.
Checked Stevie's tracker & it showed him in one of his usual haunts & that he'd been near home about an hour ago & wandered of again as is his norm.
Over the bank holiday these 2 black cats & another ginger passed through my back garden in a space of about 15 minutes, but at least they were passing through, but one per lawn is a bit of a cheek. The week before the bank holiday I was away for a week so the my 2 were in the cattery, don't know if that's what's encouraged the new all black to stay a while. I don't think it's a stray but I'll keep an eye on it. It could be one from about 10/12 houses away, they have 2 all blacks , one with only 3 legs (manages quite well) & another who I've seen on the odd occasion up near my home but not often. Of course it could be a newcomer into the area but I'm not going to get close enough to check for a microchip so will just have to ask around.

Update:- I finished typing that last post to find that Shady had gone out & Stevie had come in & no sign of any trouble with both black cats still snoozing on the lawn.
About 5:30pm I went to call Shady in who, from his tracker, was over the fence at the far back corner of the back garden. I called & eventually he decided to come. Appeared round the summerhouse, saw the black cat still snoozing on the lawn, & hissed (or that's what it looked like) & backed off in the bushes at the back. He took his time but appeared at the other back corner but still was obviously wary of the black cat, who didn't seem to be taking any notice of him or me. Shady finally came in & the black cat never moved so wasn't threatening in any way but Shady was obviously concerned by it, although he may have thought it was the neighbour's cat, who by the way was no longer on the front lawn.
The other black cat is now gone but the area he was snoozing in is now in shade so maybe it's a sun lover!

Problem is when they start coming there’s no stopping them 🙁 Freddy loves to sun bathe and even though he is a house cat he always finds the perfectly sunny place in the house usually on his bed in the bedroom directly in the position of the 🌞
