Time has flown by & it was a year ago yesterday (25th Feb) that I picked up Stevie & Shady from the rescue. They are lovely cats with Shady the softy in the house but not sure about in the outside world with the local bird life. I've only seen Stevie with one bird (last week sadly) & I've had no more pigeons brought in by either of them but don't know if they've learnt (as Roman did) not to bring them in as they get taken away!
Everything was peaceful until recently with Stevie & Lexie now having the odd spat around food time. Both of them can start it with Stevie the raised paw & blocking/threatening Lexie's path & Lexie hissing quite strongly. Lexie will retaliate with a paw but Stevie is quite a bit bigger so she does tend to give way to him.
Shady & Lexie or Stevie & Shady will play chase with the latter pairing often landing up with a rough & tumble but mainly play fight. It's taken a while for Stevie & Shady to play with toys other than straight catnip hugging but now they will both play bat/chase the ball on occasion. Neither of them are really interested in wand toys, neither the short teasers nor the long fishing rod ones although it might be interesting this summer to see what they make of chasing the latter in the garden. Boxes of course are a different matter, jumping in & out, hiding in etc are always considered good fun by them
Over the last month or so Stevie has finally begun to show signs of affection for me, sometimes coming to head butt me whilst Shady is a bit of a tart, flopping down to roll over for a tummy tickle
They both are very much independent cats with a high food drive but at least they don't try to steal food from me when I'm eating, they wait patiently on the floor as opposed to the arm of the chair ready to swipe the food as Lexie does!!!!
Whilst I can see bits of Penny, Roman & Osiris in them, they are very much themselves.
I hope the couple of photos I took today will be Ok & if so will post them here.
