As some of you know Jasper has been poorly this week, and the vet advised to give him Gaviscon three times a day for two or three days to put a lining on his tummy. Well today I was in Asda and meant to pick up a fresh bottle of Gaviscon but forgot, so on my way out I called into the pharmacy and ask for a bottle. The man who served me ask if a wanted to normal one or the double action one. I told him I just wanted the normal one as it was for my dog and he refused to sell it to me saying he "couldn't sell it to me as it was against to law for him to sell it to me for a pet." I told him it was what the vet told me to get, but it didn't make any difference, so I told him it was for me but he said no I'd already told him it was for a pet, but I could go in store and buy it. What made it worse was that he was stood in front of Frontline. I was so mad I just walked out.

I came across the same thing when buying Lactulose for Kiba-Khan, they wouldn't let me buy it in Boots when I said it was for a cat and the vet had told me to buy it from the chemist!

Just picked this up.I had read about a child's cough medicine recommended to give dogs for some problem years ago. When chemist asked age of child, I said it was actually for my dog,and advised in dog care book. The chemist said softly "I didn't hear that" and handed me the medicine. So this has been a rule for quite some years now, but don't know why. So definitely do not say anything you buy for human use from the chemist is for your pet. I keep Golden eye ointment, child's antihistamine tablets,Sudacreme, proper Epsom salts, and TCP in dogs medical kit.All human grade.

It is mad, especially when the vet has told you to buy it from the chemist. I just googled Golden Eye ointment and I'm going to get some for Bramble's eye problems.
