I don't let Earl say hello to everyone either, not with his past negative experience when an out of control Border Collie lunged at him. It spooked the pants off of him and ever since he has lunged for other dominant dogs and the problem is still 'being fixed' if you know what I mean. He is perfectly fine with calm dogs; Earl got off luckily, the same dog who went for Earl ended up drawing blood from an innocent little toy breed not long after. I think with Earl and the BC it was all down to it not being trained well enough - you must take care and not let your dog just wander up to all... who knows what the dog is like?!
P.S. The BC now wears a muzzle at all times and stopped coming to agility classes after the incident...

Well I decided to take a calm and relaxed approach to our day out at the coast yesterday. We happily walked passed lots of dogs, some as close as a fluffy hair length away and all was good. Cooper happily walked passed all (which I knew he would as he never pulls to get to other dogs or reacts to dogs in the area) and I didn't stiffen up or pull him away if other dogs got close. Unlike other dogs out and about, I saw quite a few lunge at other dogs just passing on the street, it's when I see this happen that I realise that Cooper is a very good boy and I think I'm worrying overly?!? Cooper enjoyed people watching yesterday on the pier and then took an ickle snooze while we enjoyed a pot of tea and some cake.
