Sorry not been on in ages, no excuses to give.
Quick update on proceedings!
Gypsy started coughing more recently after period of rest. Tried to video it to show vet but really difficult to catch her in act. Took her to vets who on watching the poor excuse of video described it as a wet cough and on discussion decided to have X-ray done. X-ray came back fine ruling out enlarged heart or obvious cancer in chest cavity etc. Went on antibiotics just in case it was underlying infection even though bloods etc did not indicate infection. I then wondered if it could be acid indigestion so we tried some drugs that are actually human via vet (after forms etc signed acknowledging that I was using human meds that officially not licensed to be used for dogs) which seemed to work but then made her sick. So now trying something a little less strong and bought from local pharmacy (vet gave me dosage to use). Was seemingly doing the trick till a few days ago. Now wondering if we have gone up another blind alley! She is fine otherwise, loving walks and her food she is not acting ill in anyway and the cough strictly only occurs on rest or if she has decided to roll on her back.
Going back to x-ray as she was going to have to be knocked out decided to have a few lumps removed as well, two fatty and another what was thought to be cyst. Well cyst turned out to be a low grade MCT! She had the cyst for about 5 months before removal and it had been checked by vets numerous times. Now got fingers crossed that she gets no more lumps and bumps as we would have to assume they are cancerous from now on.
She is still having laser therapy for her joints and is now on boswellia as well as normal joint care supplements.
I have never stopped the lypex for her digestion in regard to pancreatic issues even though she seems to be stable in that regard.
Yesterday found some of the food I have fed both dogs has been recalled. Awaiting reason for recall. Thankfully do not have any more in freezer but must have been amusing watching me trawl though the black rubbish to find packaging to find batch number!
If anyone has any ideas about reasons for coughing (though due to pancreatic issue could be linked to digestion) I would love to hear suggestions.
Also if anyone has any tips at keeping MCT from coming back open to suggestions.
