Welcome to the forum @ mistyanna. Your 2 cats are gorgeous and Miss Mikila is very much like one of my cats (Kali). I have 7 cats and 1 dog. I would love to hear more about your 2 cats and degus. I know lots about cats but nothing about degus and would love to see photos of them.

The degus are cute. Are the cats okay with them?

Yep! The only issue we had was when one of the degus got out. Luckily it was caught and put back in its cage before Mikila got to it

Welcome to the forum mistyanna, I hope you enjoy it here. I'm Toni with 3 rescue cats, Roman thought to be 15, Osiris my 13 year old April Fool (that's his birthday! ) & Lexie who's about 10. I spent my childhood with dogs & a tortoise (oh forgot the goldfish!) & now have cats so know nothing about Degus, it'll be interesting to learn more They look sweet & definitely have great names Your cats look lovely. Is it just the light or does Silly have different coloured eyes?

Hello! Silly's eyes are different colours, and he can't retract his claws anymore. He is a total sweetheart though, he loves everyone.
Mikila on the other hand is terrified of anyone she doesn't know. She's been getting much better since I adopted her in December, she now lets some new people pet her if they move calmly and slowly.

I was going to ask about Silly's eyes! Great that they are different colours. Mikila will continue to get used to people. I've had Toffee (who was a stray) over 7 years and he still doesn't like new people. He is also still very jumpy if anyone makes a sudden noise or moves too fast - I think he was ill treated in his first 2 years before he found and adopted me.

Roman was always a gregarious cat but we don't get many visitors & a number of those are ones that startle the cats, as a result he's become much more wary of people in or out of the house. A ladder up at the window when you're dozing doesn't make you happy to see the window cleaner!!! He & Osiris tend to run away when anyone comes to the house although oddly Roman now doesn't worry about the vacuum cleaner. I had some decorators in to quote & Osiris was often on the bed (not in the one they were looking at). As soon as there was a clear access downstairs (even if it meant squeezing through the banisters) he was off at speed! Lexie on the other hand is little miss supervisor, she loves seeing what people are doing!

They both were chasing a mouse around yesterday. Silly got it first and he was so proud, it was adorable π

The do look proud when they catch anything don't they! The only one here who chases mice (assuming you mean real ones mistyanna) is me! Osiris brings them in with a very distinctive cry (maybe its the fact he's got something in his mouth that helps it be unique) then drops them in various conditions & then either sits & watches or wanders off leaving me to catch them if they run off sometimes with little Miss Supervisor (Lexie) trying to help (not) getting in the way especially if I've just lifted the sofa to check underneath, then can't put it down because she's gone underneath! Roman just sits & watches then with one pounce has it. One day I was trying to catch one that was running from one end of the living room to the other. Roman got up on the climber, looking very bored and hardly watching, bided his time, then as it came past leapt down & caught it in one movement!
