I've just seen this on TV - a detailed survey is being conducted by Northampton University regarding what people feed their dogs, with emphasis on those electing to feed dogs a vegetarian or vegan diet. Personally I think it is totally wrong to feed dogs on veggie or vegan diet unless there are medical reasons. The questionnaire is short and simple but, I think, worth doing. When responses are in, and the results analysed, they will be published, certainly via The One Show and possibly elsewhere. Here's a link (scroll down to the survey: headed "Dogs' Dinners") www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007tcw7

Very easy questionaire to fill in I like the fact that you don't have to supply your name, address and contact details unless you want to....I'm not really ready to appear on tv just yet

I agree with you. Even as a human, I can't stick myself for veggies diet then how my dog could do this. Yes, if there is any medical reason, then we should surely go with veggies, but without it, I am not in its support. My dog loves to eat boiled chicken and beef. However, my opinion, pet owners must check either FDA or food authorities ask for food recalls for a company who's canned food or frozen meat you are using. If the answer comes in yes then definitely it must be avoided. barkpost.com/good/dry-foods-no-recalls/ourfitpets.com/health/nutrition/which-dog-food-companies-have-never-had-recalls/Here, you can see the list of companies that have never had recalls. Hopefully, you also using a reliable and organic food brand for your pet either these are veggies or meat.

Our pets should have only high quality diet and their food should be recommended by an accredited veterinary practice. A good diet can actually prevent many problems in the long run. As a matter of fact, there is a blog on how to save money at vets from an online pharmacy, Vetscriptions, and one tip is about preventative care. I found it very useful because I always thought that choosing the cheapest food would be fine, but buying a low quality food can actually make our pets sick. www.vetscriptions.co.uk/blogs/news/10-tips-for-saving-money-at-vets

Many vets have minimal training in dog nutrition - and often part of their training course may well be provided by, or sponsored by, the manufacturers of dog food!! Hence there is a distinct risk of bias in what the student vets are taught! Further I can recall seeing dog food on sale at veterinary practices that I would not dream of feeding to a dog of mine!
