I picked up a copy of the June magazine from the pet shop this month as my subscription had expired and my new one doesn't start until the July issue. I bought it home at 11.30am and by 4.30pm it had cost me £192. It's because the review of the Cat Mate cat flap was just what I needed to convince Pete that we should buy one. Unfortunately it's not as simple as paying £110 for the flap, there are also the tunnel extensions at £11 each, and a tag for Sausage (who's not chipped) for £9.50. Then Pete (who has been rained off at work) said I should buy a spare loc8tor tag for when we go to Italy and Mum comes to babysit. She isn't as nimble as us and might struggle to retrieve a collar from the top of a tree or under a bramble bush. Bang goes another £28. When you add on the full cover price of the magazine, it has been a very expensive day. Still, I have to get all of my cat purchases out of the way before August when the grandchild is due to arrive.

Been reading the mag but hadn't seen the Cat Mate cat flap. We've just fitted the Sureflap Microchip Pet Door. Couldn't use the Petporte as it didn't read the chips in 3 out of our 4 cats. The Sureflap Microchip Cat Flap was too small for Roman & Osiris although it would read all 4 chips. Their new Pet Door reads all the chips & can read a tag instead if required, doesn't show location & last used time. We got ours from Jollyes Pet Food Superstore it was on offer at just under £100. We had a few problems with Penny but with SureFlap help got them sorted. Sounds like it was an expensive mag. but necessary expenditure. Also saw Sharon's cats on the letters page. By the way enjoy Italy its a lovely place

Your lucky your cats will use a cat flap, my two flatly refuse to push the door open, so we've ended up having to tape the door open so they can get in and out.
STUBBORN MOGGIES!!

Yes, I've had a quick flick through mine. I always read the Confessions of a cat sitter. Loved the one a few months back when he chased those thugs who were bothering the cat - I think he snowballed them?
Enjoy Italy, don't be afraid to haggle and say stuff is too dear.Have a price in mind what you think is reasonable. I got Chris and I some lovely mugs at Pompeii and haggled the price with the guy.

That has worked out an expensive magazine! but worth it for peace of mind for you to know where your cats are. Enjoy Italy when you go. Is it your first grandchild that is due in August?

I haven't seen it yet, will have a look in Sainsburys next week, I can't think what my letter is about, it seems a while since I sent anything up...can't wait to see it now.
That was an expensive buy for you, ours don't go out but we did buy a cat flap for the door to their grooming room which leads in to the hallway, none of them bothered with it and now Isak and Paris are too big to even fit through so we had to block it off again.
We had our honeymoon in Italy, we stayed just outside Sorrento in Sant'Agnello, we really enjoyed it and visited Capri, Pompeii,Herculaneum, we did the Amalfi drive, Vesuvius,Ravello, the only thing we didn't like was the busy roads and mad drivers, they seem really aggressive with each other and there were a lot of single file paths as the pavements into Sorrento were very narrow, not the best when you are on honeymoon.
Congratulations on becoming a Nanna...will you be called Nanna or grandma?

Enjoy Italy when you go. Is it your first grandchild that is due in August? Yes Jenny, it's our first grandchild. We only have a son, and had really thought that he and his wife weren't going to have children. We are ALL very excited. I think they have me earmarked for childcare, but I don't mind. Nick keeps asking me why I still work, 'is it social or do you want the money' I may be persuaded to retire to look after baby Morris.
