All of today Tigger's just not been interested in eating, she just sniffs her food and walks away completely uninterested, yesterday she was fine (bouncing around, eating normally etc) but today she's been sleeping a lot and refusing food, she won't even eat any treats today (that's how worried I was, tried offering her treats as breakfast and she wouldn't even eat them)
idk what could be causing her to be uninterested in eating? Normally she adores food and will eat anything from her food dish that she can get into her mouth.

Cats who feel ill or nauseous often won't eat, a day's starvation won't hurt her in fact its often a suggestion if they are being sick ( I realise she isn't being physically sick at the moment). Is she drinking water OK ebony? What about litter tray usage? If she's not interested in food in the morning or isn't drinking then I would be inclined to have a word with your vets. Also does she seem to be in pain anywhere when you feel over her - if so a vets appointment is on the cards.

She's not been physically sick (as in vommiting), she's been completely off her food, just sniffs it and walks away then lies down, really not herself (normally she's bouncing all over me at silly o clock, either for breakfast or just because she can)
I'm having to take her in tomorrow to the big vet hospital, so having to see if I can beg a lift from someone off of work otherwise I'll have to get the bus to the hospital then after the appointment travel into the town only to come back the same way to get Tigger back home.
She's still refused food, by the time the vet's seen her it'll have been almost 48 hours since she ate anything (vet couldn't get her in sooner, fully booked)

I#ve not seen her drining anything either, whereas Ebony's been perfectly happily eating and drinking, Tigger has used the tray (to do both a number 1 and a number 2) but she seemed to find the number 2 a bit difficult, I saw her using the tray (and as normal she didn't bury it)

I wonder if poor Tigger is constipated? My Kiba-Khan has always suffered with constipation and in the past he would go off his food and be miserable. Try feeling Tigger's tummy and see if you think she is in discomfort. She needs to drink - have you got a syringe? if so, you could squirt a bit of water in her mouth a few times. Good luck at the vets.

Tigger keeps licking her sides a lot, I've managed to get her to et a little bit but not much and Ebony polished the rest of it off. Normally Tigger's bouncing off the walls hyper and won't even settle down for a wash unless Ebony practically wrestles her to the floor and gives her a lick, Tigger's been much quieter than normal over the past couple of days so she's definately not right.

It does sound as if she's in some discomfort ebony. It may sound a silly question but are all her toys around & complete? She couldn't have eaten something she shouldn't could she? lotsofcats idea of syringing water into her mouth is a good idea. Hope all goes well at the vets.

Just got back in from the vet: Tigger's got gingivitis and the vet said she may be a carrier for calichivirus (if I spelt it right), Tigger's had 2 injections to help her and the vet said if she's no better to get her back in, or if she gets better then gets worse again to get her back in.
Question for you all, if Tigger does carry calichivirus (vet said he doesn't know for certain), could it spread to Ebony? I know I'm jumping the gun here but I need to know what I'm dealing with (and I don't want to google it because I know that google says pretty much everything in cats could cause death)

I had a quick read up and it says this can be passed on, has Ebony been vaccinated against it ? Perhaps gypsy can give you more advice about this that would be more accurate than internent google then? Hope Tigger is feeling more comfortable soon x

Both Ebony and Tigger are completely up to date with their vaccinations (they're both due back in for theirs in October so currently they're covered)
If Tigger's a carrier of calichivirus, she'll have brought it with her from her previous home (I have my suspicions that her previous home who gave her and 15 or so other cats into RSPCA never had any of the cats vaccinated and it was RSPCA who vaccinated them all)

Hi Ebony, I'm not sure about the Feline calicivirus (that's how you spell it) but I know a person who does, she has a cat (Cecil) who had gingivitis & was tested for cailicvirus & found to have it. Now she is the proud owner of 8 cats plus a garden feral. She got him as a kitten, his mum had been found & I'm not sure if she already had the litter or they were born at a rescue. He's only about a year old now & is doing well although is having special treatment for the mouth problem - it was severe! She's had cats for years & can let me know more about it (if gypsy doesn't tell us more before then). However its not necessarily a major issue. As to finding to much information on the internet a good source is icatcare.org/advice/cat-health/feline-calicivirus-fcv-infection-0I think the standard vaccinations do cover FCV although like any vaccination its not 100%. You're right about the probable source of the virus in Ebony - it can be passed on from mum which is probably the case in Cecil.

So tonib if Tigger is a carrier it wouldn't be a death sentence for either Ebony or Tigger? I'm just worried about if ebony gets it off Tigger because of Ebony's asthma.
