Hiii everyone
We're beginning to think Honey may have slight attachment issues with me. Olive, her sister, is incredibly affectionate but at the same time very independent - she will sleep where she feels, eat when she feels, play outside she feels etc etc. Honey however, follows me absolutely everywhere, if I put food down for her and leave, she'll follow instantly and leave her food, she won't go outside for long at all and never leaves our porch and when I'm at work, mum says her mood changes entirely - she becomes less affectionate and spends most of her time waiting by the front door or will instantly run to the front door as soon as I put the key in the lock!
I've never seen behaviour like this in a cat before, she seems more like a dog hah!
Just wondering how I can make her less attached because as lovely as it is, I feel she's getting a bit depressed when I'm not in the house which is not what we want!

Hi jess I wish I could help but I'm definitely not an expert on this sort of thing. However I wonder if getting someone else to feed her, play with her etc. might help - sounds as if you do everything for her. Perhaps get someone else to call her & then put her food down initially whilst you are there but when she is used to them calling her gradually stop being there. Also if others can play with her it might help. As to the outside - some cats don't feel confident wandering out she maybe one. Hopefully there maybe better ideas from others.

I've never come across a cat doing this. Like tonib says she may not like going out much. It does seem more of a dog-like behaviour than a cat.

Yes that's a good idea, as I do seem to be the one who does the majority of the cat looking after in my house!
