IME cats can suffer environmental allergens. Though dogs seem more susceptible to pollen related allergies than cats.
Its also possible that your cat could be suffering from an upper respiratory tract infection.

No experience of hay fever heartpawprints but sneezing in one of our cats was treated as an infection once.

Just spoke to a vet nurse and she was saying he might have some grass pollen stuck which he's reacting to. She said to look at for discharge from the eyes or coughing. So I shall keep my eye on him a bit and see what's happening. I'm not too concerned at this stage. It's s relief to be able to chat to someone though. Thought I'd share just incase anyone else has this worry.

Well so far I've not seen him tonight and I'm afraid my anxiety's getting the better of me. He's usually home or back soon after I come home from work but it's been nearly 5 hours. I've already done a circuit of the local streets.

Well his lordship has just leapt through the door on the thousandth time of me opening it to see if he was there. Silly cow, I started crying with relief. Cats eh? Can't live with 'em can't live without 'em.

So glad to hear Ruppee's back heartpawprints - seems the power of the forum was working based on the time of your 2 posts . I know exactly why you started crying with relief, I do the same if one of ours (usually Roman) hasn't been seen when expected & finally comes home (or I find him) many hours later or I see that he's been home without me seeing him as his food has gone down!

Yeah he just trotted off to the kitchen and started gobbling down his din dins as though nothing was amiss. Oh to be so nonchalant! My Mum would have yelled herself hoarse if I'd have done that sort of thing so he got off very lightly with a tearful "where have you been?"

But must say you know when they're not right - so I rang the emergency vet for advice and she said to bring him in today. Saw the vet - looks like he has a virus - like a head cold so she gave him an inflammatory jab and I have some Loxicom to give him starting tomorrow. He looked a lot brighter this evening when I got home so that's really good. He's not so lethargic so I'm pleased.

Sorry to hear Ruppee has an infection after all but the Loxicom should sort it out. Mind you I once had to treat a cat with steam - ensuite shower at full blast until the room filled with steam did the trick - Oh & Vick under her nose while in the steam (I had a nice sauna )

The virus will go away. Soon i hope. Of course you are worried. When my (late) Vosje was sneezing all day long, it was kennel cough and she needed an injection every fortnight as long as she lived. I gave her eye drops for her watery eyes.
