Hi dog lovers, ive hopped over from the cat forum to ask for your guys advice, My good friends have adopted a two year old lab from the rspca, he's gorgeous but very nervous, He's settled in quickly into his new home, the problem they have is when they take him out for a walk, he goes rigid with fear, the rspca think he may of been hit with his lead by his previous owners, They have several different leads and harnesses and have taken him to remote areas with no traffic to try and alleviate the problem, but with no luck He went to the vets yesterday and they have told them to persevere! If any of you wonderful people could offer some advice id be very grateful

I would get the advice of a professional dog trainer (preferably a dog behaviorist).

It would be good if your friends could join us so communications could be direct.
At what point does he freeze? When the lead goes on? At the front door? Garden gate? I had similar issues with my rescue some 11 years ago, so maybe I can offer tips on what to do, if a behaviourist is not an option. Have the RSPCA offered any post rehoming help?
How much experience with dogs do your friends have?
