Had a phone call from the vet a couple of hours ago (whilst watching Death In Paradise) and it seems that the 3 x daily Felimazole are working
Hattie had to have another blood test on Tuesday afternoon and what a carry on it was!!! The vet tried getting blood out of her right foreleg but had no joy whatsoever. Next she tried the neck and could only get a very tiny amount She eventually tried the other foreleg and managed to get some...just enough to test. The blood was quite 'thick' compared to normal blood which WAS unusual....perhaps it was Hattie's old age or her thyroid issues or something else Her weight was up to 3.03lb (was 2.94lb) so that was good. Heart rate was still up in the 200's when it should be around 120/140 and vet reckoned it could be a heart problem which would need some heart medication Her lump on her shoulder was the same size so that hasn't grown or anything
But today the vet rang to let me know the results of my gorgeous old girlie's blood test. Last time it was a reading of 67 (ideal is between 10 and 60 so Not Good!!! ) but today's is 26 She doesn't need another check up now for 6 months (unless I am worries about anything obviously) and can just continue on her monthly repeat prescription
Just HAD to tell someone.....I am just SO happy because my old doddery girl is doing so well
Oh, and got Chilli and Lily booked in for their booster vaccination next Thursday morning. The vets are running a few special offers this month including half price vaccinations and FREE microchipping for dogs It's only going to be £14 each for my two to get their boosters done and that's them safe for another year

Well done Gilly, Hattie certainly fell on her feet when she came to live with you. It's really good news. Could her heart rate be so high as a result of her blood being so thick and making her heart work twice as hard to pump the blood round?

Great news, really glad to hear how good Hatties blood test results are! Shame about the possible heart issue though, are you going to wait and see till the next check up in 6 months or are the vets gonna do any tests on that now? Odd about her thick blood, did they find out the reason when they did the blood test? What is her ideal/target weight, do you know? Great that she's putting some on though, got any recent pics of her? Sorry for all the questions haha! I'm a gazillion times worse when I take one of mines to the vets, I question EVERYTHING haha.

@gillykat that's great that she's showing her personality now, she's obviously properly settled in with you guys. Haha that gave me a laugh about the other two knocking her over, maybe they have a bet on who can knock her over most? Haha, I like bossy cats, they're funny, although not great when they decide its feeding time and I want an extra half hour in bed, grr. Glad the blood seems to be nothing to worry about. Just wondered about the weight as Carlotta isn't far off what Hatties weighs now (but she's a small cat) and most cats I know except big Mieze seem to weigh 3.5 so if Hatties isn't too big then maybe you'd be fairly near the target weight. She's just one of those gaunt old ladies then perhaps haha. Well, she does seem to have a great life now, well done. Sounds like you're gonna have her for a few years yet!

No, I haven't heard anything from Amber's new guardians. I'll be popping down to see Linda soon and she might have news on how she is as she lives closer to them She's probably taken the house over by now!

I take my mob to Robson & Prescott as they are the ones that PARRT deal with (they're a lot cheaper than Alnorthumbria too!). I'm getting Lily & Chilli's booster vacs done on Thursday for just £14 (half price offer) instead of the £36 that Alnorthumbria would charge so much as I miss seeing Adam and David who WERE lovely vets (tho' both get newspapers from our shop) I have to go where it's cheaper at the moment Robson & Prescott ARE a good company though and have been going for years and I was pleased when they opened a branch here in Alnwick because otherwise it was a 20 mile traipse down the A1 to Morpeth.
