www.kentonline.co.uk/sittingbourne_messenger/news/2013/april/25/dog_dies_in_car.aspxWhen will people learn we've not even entered Summer yet an we've already got dogs dieing in cars because of the heat, have these people not got a brain cell to tell them behind glass it will be like a greenhouse even if you parked in the shade the sun moves around. Ad they say it was accidentally locked in the car for 6 hours if you forget to take your dog out of the car how can it be an accident. DON'T COOK YOUR DOG.

Oh that's dreadful. RIP Ruby.
This is very definitely bad news all round, I hope the students & teachers who witnessed what happened get some help as well as the wife & children of the owner. I suppose you could say there is one good(?) thing that can come of this & that is the students may learn about proper dog care but definitely in a very hard & uncomfortable way.
Thanks Cumbria for posting this & reminding everyone of the dangers.

There have been more than enough warnings on this, PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE TOOK THEM IN MUCH EARLIER!
I cannot express how much it makes me feel angry at those people who simply think they cantry and cook their dog for dinner and get away with a dog alive at the end of it!

I think we should remember this was not a deliberate act.......

Perhaps not deliberate but irresponsible all the same... People wouldn't leave a baby unattended in a hot car so why leave a dog??

I saw this this morning. It's a tragic accident, but every time I hear a story like this, it annoys me because we seem to hear about things like this happening every year. I just don't understand why people take the risk when the sun is out. My car was boiling the other day after a few hours sunshine and I live in the north - I can't imagine what it'll have been like in the south!

As a regular presence at the school why hasn't the school provided a dog cage in the staff room for the dog?
It was an accident. I blame the school for not supplying a safe facility for the dog which at the end of the day was part of the teaching team and the staff member who did not collect the dog from the car which sounds like it was the usual routine.
No dog should be left in a car however I know sometimes you have no choice (such as traveling and needing the facilities yourself and service stations are not dog friendly). Then I run to minimize the time they are in the car. Not all of us have a second person to sit with the dog when you have to go in.

I try to remember that a) we are all human b) we all make mistakes and c) there but for the grace of God...........
It is simple to sit back and declare that you are "disgusted from Tunbridge Wells" but I know I have had some narrow escapes with my dogs over the years.......
People take risks all the time, speeding, overtaking, racing traffic lights, to name but a few, it is human nature.
The owner and the children will be distraught.

Yes they will smokeybear, but it's no one else's fault but their own! It's still irresponsible of them to leave their dog in a hot car!
It's true however that it was not a deliberate act, however, it is nobody else's fault that it happens.... I would absolutely hate to be in their shoes.... absolutely hate.

I don't care if we are 'only human' or that everyone makes mistakes It was VERY irresponsible of the owner of the dog and they should know better and more importantly they should know where their dog is for 6 hours?!? I think it was a stupid thing to have happened and unless you are just popping in to the shops or to the loo while on your own with your dog then you should know better and NEVER leave dogs in cars. Poor dog.x

Happens every year.
And will probably go on happening as long as there are dogs and cars. People will never learn.
