"Dutch is a very hard language to learn. Most people think it's like German but it's not. I'm a native speaker and I know many English people and I try to learn them a little bit Dutch but it's too hard for them. It's grammatically very hard and very hard to pronounce. Spanish, German, French are easier to learn." That's what I googled. I read somewhere that Dutch has 350 irregular verbs and Geman 19. Cannot find the text. I dunno, I find Dutch quite easy to understand most of the time, especially written, because it is almost like a mix of German and English haha. I find the "g" extremely hard to pronounce properly though haha. I do love that in Dutch there are words that look like swearwords in English though teehee, I especially love the sign at Schipol airport which states: "you can sit here." (younger & easily offended users, don't translate that haha), as it looks like someone with a German accent angrily telling someone to sit down. I love Dutch though, it's the next language I wanna learn once I have a bit more time. I fly with KLM so I spend a lot of time reading their magazine on flights about how wonderful The Netherlands and Dutch people are, it has worked and I love the place haha.

Yes, the "g", haha. During the war they tested men, who pretended to be Dutch but were in fact Germans, by letting them pronounce "Scheveningen". The "ch" is pronounced as the "g". <Too complicated to describe the situations that made it necessary>

I much prefer forums as opposed to Facebook too - threads and topics can get lost in a matter of hours on FB and it's so frustrating trying to keep up. I still have a FB account and occasionally have a look at various dog sites....usually when I'm procrastinating to avoid doing the housework What's happened in my life? Errrr Lily has been spayed and now both she and Chilli go outside a lot and are completely different happy chilled cats We have a new foster girl called Hattie who may be in her teens and she has hyperthyroidism which we are trying to get under control with medication so she can then start to put on weight and also possibly have an operation to remove some rotten teeth and a mystery growth on her side
