Took Tilly to hydrotherapy today and took some videos (yes - I held my phone while in the water!) Here they are. I have pics but they aren't as good as the videos!

Hi Tilly, You look like an excellent swimmer! I had a lot of hydrotherapy and it really worked for me, built up my hind legs muscles. I've had arthritis in my knees since I was two and I'm now very nearly 14... Enjoy your swims. Connie

Great videos as I commented on facebook Where can you buy life jackets for dogs? I would like one for Charlie for the beach, etc? - Just in case? conniecobra your dog is beautiful. I am glad your pooch enjoys hydrotherapy, I think it is a perfect way of building up muscles, helping with limbs, etc for animals! tillytubbie why does Tilly go to hydrotherapy anyway?

You can get life jackets from a number of places, I think mine comes from ebay but if you search for Dog Lifesaver Jacket" you should get plenty of ideas. Good luck!

Outdoor pursuit shops should sell them especially if they sell things like boating equipment. Thats where we go Coopers from, when hubby bought his kayak.

She goes for her general fitness and enjoyment. Keeps her muscles in good shape, and she loves it!

tillytubbie Do you have to get a referral from the vets for it? O/and do you have to pay for private sessions? Just being nosy?!?

Oh I see TT, she certainly enjoys it! On a scale of 1-10 about how expensive is it? How much do you pay (you don't have to answer - just wanting to know because my Cocker Spaniel would love it!).

tillytubbie Do you have to get a referral from the vets for it? O/and do you have to pay for private sessions? Just being nosy?!? Yes, you need a referral and that has to be updated every year (or regularly anyway). Where I go, you have to start sessions with 1 Hydrotherapist in the water with the dog, and the dog has to be wearing a life-jacket. Just so that it learns what to do and is confident in the water. Tilly had several sessions like this before I was allowed in the water with the Hydrotherapist to learn how to make her use her muscles efficently, when to rest her etc. This then progressed to us taking the jacket off, and now I take her in on my own with no Hydrotherapist present. It was signifcantly more expenisive with the Hydrotherapist in the water, and much cheaper for a 'fitness swim' where it's just Tilly and I. If your dog has a medical issue, your insurance might cover the cost, and prices will vary from place to place. I pay around £20 for a 'fitness swim' session which she has every month or so.
