Well due to my love of cats and dogs i have wanted to work with them for a while but i am finding it really hard to find a job in that field. I achieved a diploma in animal health care level 3 a couple of years ago has i thought it might give me a better chance, but like i say i just can't find anything to suite has my hours would have to fit in with riley and a full time job would be a no no.
I noticed a advert - rain rescue wanting a voluntary cattery assistant part time, so after some consideration i decided to apply and send them my CV, i received a email yesterday asking me what hours i would beable to do , so i replied stating that i could do weekends and maybe Wednesday afternoons due to my present work situation. They have asked me to call in on Saturday around 1pm to have a chat and meet all the furry residents so i am really looking forward to it, the only down fall is it is around 10 miles from home but i have a car and hubby say's that i should go for it as it would give me more experience and it would be something else to add to my CV also he says that their maybe a salary paid job that comes up (hopefully ) fingers crossed. So i am really looking forward to it.(: i just wanted to share my news with all your guys.

Hello chantel .Well done and I hope you get the job. I also love cats and dogs and I haven't worked in years and am looking to do volunteer work. I am hopefully going to start helping out at my local PDSA in the charity shop. I know its not actually working with animals but it is a start and then if that goes okay. I know they need dog walkers and cat cuddlers at my local RSPCA. One step at a time for me. Swoots

Well i went and had a look around the cattery yesterday and was shown what i would be doing , their are 9 ferrel cats in one section that were found dumped in a cardboard box inside a phone box, they are very very nervous. And in the other section their are 5 cats. It is just general cleaning around , changing litter, bedding, fresh food and water and really just spending a little time with them.
Today i did my first stint 10:am - 2pm They are really very nervous but they did come out to see me especially for feeding time. In the second section their is one cat that is really friendly and very handsome i think he is a tabby bless him he has really sad eyes. And their are 2 cats in one of the pens that are that nervous they hide underneath their blankets i never even saw them. Everyone is really very nice and i think they are greatfu for what ever hours i can do, their is another girl that will able to do the week but i can't get up during the week due to work. I will able to. most Sundays and maybe the odd Saturday so they are really pleased. So it went really well :-)

So pleased for you chantel. I have to fill a form in for the RSPCA and return it and then will be interviewed that is if I am able get there. I did not realise how far it was from where I actually live. It would mean two bus rides so I will decide after my interview that is if I get one. I have also been in contact again with my local PDSA charity shop that is easier to get to for me as it is only one bus ride away. I popped into the PDSA the other day and the lady asked when I would be available but that she has plenty of students helping out during the summer break. And would need me more when they go back well that suits me also. So we will wait and see what happens.

Swoots good luck and i hope you get through for a interview , i know what you mean about it being too far, it is about 10 miles to the rescue from my house but my hubby drops me off and pick me up as i don't know if i could find my own way their , that is why i think i will mostly due Sundays and maybe the odd saturday , although my hobby says he dosen't mind dropping me off and picking me up. The pdsa job sounds good and would be good experience , hope everything goes well for you. It is all good experience and something else to add onto your CV that's how i look at it. :-)

Thank you tonib . They are both animal related . Perhaps I would be better at PDSA or else I will no doubt bring some kitties home working at RSPCA who knows I may be able to do both. Swoots
