I'm heartbroken for you. I had a cat called Tia who died too young also. Chin up! It will take time but you will get through.

Pets I own: Rosie a Maine Coon, Red and Cream.Aged 4 year in (May2014), a BIG quiet girl, and TiaMaria a Black Russian years on (Nov 2013) who is amazing fun.
Sadly Tia was killed in July 2014 by a car.
My son has Parkinsons and lives 2 miles from me. I got him RILEY a black stray 2year old in February 2014, but from a rescue 14 months ago.Very involved with him !
Pebbles age unknown, thrown out of a car, went to my daughter. Also involved with him ! ALL are adorable and so different.
Now (OCT 2014) have a kitten called Lilyana. She looks like her Mum, a Russian Blue. Her Dad is a Rag Doll. She was born on 24/07/2014....the day my darling Tia was killed on the road.
This was meant to be and she is helping me grieve for Tia. Lilyana is delightful.Rosie is now taking to her

Like yesterday Rosie has wakened me by meowing very, very loudly. She kept it up until I came down 20 minutes later. I had a knee replacement recently so can only move slowly, but it is much better now. Rosie has never done this before. She and Tia sleep on cat cushions on the kitchen windowsill. She must have felt lonely without her. I do ! I have had so many emails, posts, phone calls and a friend brought me a plant, another sent flowers. Kindness is the biggest help. After Tia was hit by the car, two young girls lifted her onto the pavement. A local woman started looking for the owner and was directed to me quickly as everyone knows Tia. When I reached her a woman in a sports car arrived. I heard her say she had come back. At the time I just rushed away. apparently she had hit Tia. It felt better that the woman cared enough to come back and that in death Tia was surrounded with the kindness of strangers. I took her to the vet to check her chip as I could not look at her face. That young vet cried with me when I broke down and sobbed. The sincerest form of sympathy I think ? I am glad she is buried in my garden, just 20 feet from where I sit. Still close to me my little love.

How kind those people are. My vet only told me what I had to pay. Never even said that she was sorry for me.

Very glad you have a kind vet tiarosie, ours are lovely too.One of our vets carried Gemma to the car after she was p.t.s. wrapped in a lovely big blanket, she was a Flat coated Retriever,so quite a large dog, husband had carried her into the vets. They were full of kindness at both our dogs passing, which helps so much when you feel your world has fallen apart.I was a complete mess for a couple of months each time before I could be sure I wouldnt break down. So nice the driver came back, she may have been unsure she had hit Tia,and it's nice to know people cared enough to help where they could. I saw a cat who had been killed and was lying on the grass verge, and asked neighbour if she knew where it was from as I didn't recognise it,she didn't,but went to get a box to put it in,and she found owners later. She was very kind, and told me she and her husband had found another cat in roughly the same place not long before, they knew that cats owner and had placed the cat in a box in a way that owner wasnt confronted with it's injuries.Peoples kindness makes a terrific difference at a heartbreaking time. So sorry your vet was so unfeeling dutchkitties, that would have broken my heart, how callous.I know not all vets are great, but you would expect them to have a little empathy as they are dealing with pets and worried owners every day,it's their job. That one obviously has little feeling,it's just cold business.

Can barely see the screen through my tears.....Blurry Screen Syndrome (((BIG HUGS))) sweetie - I know exactly what you're going through In 2010 we heard of a cat that had been hit by a car in Seahouses and was currently at our local vets. We were fostering old cats for PARRT at the time and it was Linda who told us about her so we immediately said we would take her. She, the cat, was a big lass and we had to change the 36'' crate we had for the 48'' in the cat rooms She was a longhaired tabby & white and we christened her Lily ~ my first Lily! Her left foreleg was broken in two places and she had a pin through it and metalwork actually sticking out in order to support it all....meccano I called it Anyway, she was on crate rest for over 5 months until her leg healed and the vet gave permission to start letting her out of the crate 24/7. She enjoyed following me into our courtyard and sitting in the sun watching me as I pottered about with my flowers. Unfortunately, nine months after she came into our lives, on 11th May 2011, she was doing just that - lapping up the sun - and I briefly popped back indoors for five minutes. In that time Lily wandered off out the courtyard and crossed the road and on her way back across she too was hit by a car and killed instantly A neighbour moved her off the road and came to get me and asked if she was mine as they were about to take her to the vet to see if she was microchipped (she was). I took her back inside and let our other two cats sniff her and after an hour or so Neil took her up to a nearby wood and buried her there...we've taken all our babies there and now call it Rainbow Wood. Like you I was absolutely devastated and cried for days and our epileptic semi-feral Nina certainly missed Lily as they had been best friends. She passed away herself less than a month later from a massive seizure and we buried her next to darling Lily. Please don't blame yourself EVER....Tia was so happy being outside and enjoying the sun on her back and I so wish my two current girls could experience that too as I hate keeping them indoors Hopefully one day we'll move to somewhere with a garden and no road nearby. Your vet sounds lovely....I've had a vet reduced to tears too (when we lost darling Suzi to FeLV last year) and it helps to know that they care too I've only ever known one 'horrible' vet and we soon changed surgeries after that! Take care of yourself petal and don't be afraid to have a good cry as it does help you heal And we are always here for you too if you ever want to talk....we've all been through the loss of a pet (or many in my case with us fostering!) so know what you are going through ((((((BIG HUGS))))))

Thanks again everyone. The vet would not let me pay anything. lovely girl. When I had my knee replacement a physio came to the house 5 days later. She asked me to put on my sock.I was in a lot of pain, tried 5 times then shouted for Tia. She belted into the room, went right to my foot and sat looking up at me. "Just put my sock on please Tia" I said. The physio glared at me so I quickly did it myself. I moved onto the bed for my next exercises. Tia lay along my left leg while I moved my right one. Physio still stony faced ! Then I started moving my leg up and down. Tia moved to the foot of the bed, lay on her back and copied me by wiggling all four legs in the air. The physio laughed at last !! She loved to run like the wind. The neighbours all commented on it. She had long thin legs, a sleek body and a small sweet face. She climbed trees and every day walked along my 150 year old,14 ft. wall like an elegant ballet dancer. I taught her where the wet food was kept. She got a sachet in the morning and had access to dry food all day. She shared my prawns, salmon, chicken and fish. (Rosie would not touch them). Some evenings she would come to me, meow loudly, look in my eyes and walk to the door turning to see if I was coming. Then would lead me to the kitchen food cupboard and head bang it for another sachet ! My smart girl. She came into bed with me especially after my operation. While under the cover I would wiggle my fingers around the top and she pounced every time. There is a huge bully cat that comes into my garden. My window is floor to ceiling. When Rosie spots it outside she runs and hides behind the sofa...all 16 lbs of her. Tia at 8lbs would shoot TO the window and try to get at him, yelling her head off. My little hero. It might be a week or so before I get a photo on. My son works despite his condition, but is often over tired so he will help me when he is able to. Hope everyone has had a good day. Bye for now.

What lovely kindness from all concerned in the passing of Tia. She sounds such a clever girl and she has certainly left a lot of good memories in her short life How nice to have her near you again, as scallywag said are you going to plant something special for her, we did for our Chloe - she loved to strop her claws on buddleia trunks & hunting butterflies & moths on the flowers so a friend got us one to plant as a memorial to her. Her ashes have helped to fertilise it & it has grown well

Not sleeping tonight. I was remembering a few weeks ago after my operation I was home but needed to go to bed for an hour or so. Rosie came and lay at the bottom of the bed. Tia came and wriggled under the cover, then settled lying beside me with her head on the pillow, facing me. I turned my head to face her. Her green eyes looked back at me. "I'm looking at you;you are looking at me." I said. She blinked at me. I closed my eyes. All I could hear was her purring and the quiet ticking of the clock. We fell asleep.

It's probably Tia thundering up and down the stairs in her hobnailed boots There's a buddleia shrub in our courtyard which I now refer to as George's Buddleia because he spent his final weeks last summer lying in it's shade and watching (and catching!) butterflies that came to it's flowers. I also cannot now see a Small Tortoiseshell butterfly without thinking of him as he would catch them and carry them indoors and release them unharmed (but perhaps a tad soggy!) in our living room and watch them flutter about
