Hi all,
If you were a member on the old forum you will know that I was looking into Flyball for my Cocker Spaniel Roman and my Westie Charlie Boy. Well, I found a training club in Newcastle near where my dad lives so not too far and they have emailed me to try out a beginners trial thing this Tuesday coming up but I have been advised that I should just take one of my dogs for the tryouts and then I can bring my other dog for the next tryouts if I want. But I am stuck on which dog to take(?) Any advice or help please? I really don't know what to do. It is only £2.50 so nice and cheap. The trainers are lovely I have been emailing them for a while now, they know that I used to do Flyball and they know that Charlie does Agility at the moment. But at the same time I am thinking about starting Agility with Roman so I don't know yet, wish I could do both but don't know whether it would be okay with my parents! . After this tryout lesson on tuesday I can do a beginners 6 week course for only £20 and I personally think that is a brilliant price compared to some training classes I know of!
But so far I think I am just going to take Charlie Boy - my Westie.
I will put a bit about my dogs and see what everyone thinks (if you were me what would you do?).
Charlie Boy (Westie):
A fun and lovely little dog. Loves life, walks, Agility, trick-training, Heelwork to music/canine freestyle, cuddles, swimming, food, rewards, paying with tug toys, playing fetch, going to the dog groomers and showing off! He loves spending time and sleeping with my cats and other dog (Roman). I have a very close bond with him and he is my best friend. Friendly with other dogs and strangers, happy to meet people. Well-behaved and calm around others. Not hard to handle and doesn't pull, etc, has good recall and well-trained.
Roman (Cocker Spaniel):
Very energetic! Loves fetch, food, swimming, long walks with the ball, cuddles, being the center of attention, being groomed, trick-training, meeting new people, very friendly. My only concerns are that he is scared of male strangers, gets nervous SOMETIMES around new dogs depending on how they act. He has a good recall most of the time until he gets his spaniel nose on the ground. He is MAD, strong and pulls when excited but I want to take him to either Agility or Flyball to loose some excess energy. He is my Nannas dog so not MINE but still a family dog who stays with us most of the week
So what would you do? I just don't know? But my Nan lives in Sunderland, I live in Washington and my dad lives in Newcastle so my dad would pick me and the dog up and take us, but we would have to go to sunderland to get Roman as he doesn't come over my house on Tuesdays just Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and some Sundays.
Thanks for any help
