We're taking Jess with us this year - it's our first summer holiday with her. So I don't really fit into any sections

My dog goes to an excellent boarding kennels, in fact the ones belonging to his breeder; that way I can relax knowing there is 24/7 care; he is not going to escape or get lost and he is covered by insurance and vet care.

Totally with SB on this. Holidays aren't holidays if you're worrying about dogs and they are safe as houses in a good kennel Besides, we have no other option to be honest, our last few trips have been abroad so they can't come with us anyway. Shame really I expect they'd love a go at snowboarding!

Haven't had a holiday for years, wouldn't like to put them in kennels and there are not many places that take 5 GSD's The last holiday was a disaster...stuck in north Wales when the petrol strike was on, just has enough to get back home.

Earl comes with us - he really enjoys himself as much as we do! Sometimes when my parents choose a place which is anti-dog, my nannie comes to stay with him until we get back, but most of the time he comes with us.

My first dog was a GSD and she was a beautiful grey colour. I love the white ones. I'm like you and wouldn't like to put my 7 cats and 2 dogs in kennels/cattery. The last holiday I had was 3 years ago, I went to Germany with other family members - I had to go without my husband because he had to look after the animals - what a shame!!

Since we've had Pepper and Ellie, we haven't been on holiday. For any holidays we had before that, our old dog used to go and stay with my uncle and his dog. She always used to come back with bad habits though because he let his dog do anything she wanted and treated Patch the same!

I don't think Cooper would cope in kennels. If we go some where that we can't take dogs then my parents look after him. But in the 4 years we have had him he has only stayed with them without us for one night. I put the cats in to the cattery when we go on holiday, I don't really want to but it's either that or not going and working for yourself you do need to get away even if it's just for a week or two.

We would never have put our girls in kennels i would not have enjoyed my holiday knowing that my girls were so distressed in kennels. I know that their are some kennels out their that are really good but my girls would have hated it. We always took our girls with us and to be honest they have been the best holidays ever, and the girls enjoyed it as much has us. Hoping Riley will enjoy his future holidays too.
