Tilly woke yesterday morning limping on her back leg. She was a bit stiff the night before - after her walk - she was chasing the ball, and I did notice her turn awkwardly. She doesn't seem in pain though - she still wanted me to throw the ball in the garden and chase Betsy! She's a bit better this morning, still limping but nowhere near as bad as last night. I'm keeping her quiet for a few days, only on-lead walks for a bit.
The worrying bit: A friend from agility was walking her Collie in fields and when they got home he started severley limping. Another friend's dog who walks in the same place started limping and had to go to the vets for emergency treatment because she got a swellling throughout her entire body.
I am now worried as we all walk in fields that are pretty much all connected.

That's a little worrying. Are you off to the vets? Keep us posted.

It could be worth getting her checked over and explaining the situation. I'd be quite worried too..
Jasper often gets a limp if he's overdone it so I now don't encourage him to run. If he wants to he can but I don't get him wound up.
All I would suggest is the on lead walks and keeping her quiet which you already mentioned. How old is Tilly? I have jasper on glucosamine and chondroitin tablets, but he's nearly 7, so not an oldie but also no spring chicken!

She's 6. She has a Cod liver oil tablet daily and joint care sticks (they're pretty useless mind) but I have ordered her some High-strength joint tablets which should be here by the end of the week.
It's better than it was - she keeps throwing toys in my face wanting to play lol. Took her for a short on lead walk around the block earlier. I've figured out it's her left front and back leg - so she must have slipped or fallen. A few more days rest should do the trick I'm hoping. If not - to the vet we go.

Really!? I thought she was only 3-4! And we have Dorwest GLucosamine and Chondroitin tablets.
I'm sure it was in YD a few months back that Cod Liver Oil isn't too good for dogs livers. It was typically after I'd just bought a massive tub of Dorwest CLO -.- Apparently salmon oil is better but I haven't tried it yet...

Thanks PP And yes Charlotte, she is 6 - no one believes me when I tell them - they say she's too bouncy (normally!) or too youthful to be 6 haha. I try to keep her as healthy as possible! Yes I read about CLO, I have ordered some Salmon oil to try as well

Yeah Salmon oil is better but you have to give it with Vitamin E apparently. I too had just bought CLO when I was told this and then I had just restocked my supply of Salmon oil when I was told about the Vit E. I now use Yumega Plus. Hope Tillys leg gets better soon

Blumming dogs will be the death of me (and my bank balance!) I haven't given jasper any G+C for a while, need to get back in the routine of it. How much is Yumega?

I have been looking at the yumega as well,
gladys: as you feed cooper yumega plus does it say on the bottle how much barley would need he is 40kg?
we have not given barley and glucosamine tablets for a while but things have been hectic with his allergies and crufts, he is alright at the moment but he will be starting again soon once we have got some more tablets as his back legs are the main problem and he has an old shoulder injury.

I've been looking at various different joint care. At the moment I'm torn between Joint Aid For Dogs (has lots of reccomendations - especially for the sporting dogs) or Yumove. The only problem with these things are that Tilly weighs 45kg (roughly) and would need normally twice the doesage as a normal 20kg dog and therefore it's not very cost effective as the tablets/packets don't last long!
Her front limp seems to have stopped, her back end is a little bit stiff but far far better than it was. I let her out for a wee this morning and the nutter started charging about the garden (not good I know!!) but means she must be feeling better. She's driving me crazy pacing up and down and being really restless due to the lack of exercise!!

Are you aware that fish oils deplete vit e so should be supplemented also? Why are you giving CLO, if you are giving salmon oil?
