Glad that Gypsy and Phoebe are both ok caz2golden. How lovely to have bats, I would love to see them. I think we were all fooled with that lovely weather over Easter. I've got my jumpers back out. I've noticed less swallows this year too. Love the great tits nesting in your box orpheous87 - I would be watching those all day long! If you put food out I think they will be back with them. I have coconut shell feeders on my cherry tree and the great tits have just returned but they haven't brought any babies yet. I have a family of 5 baby blue tits visiting and they are so cute. This morning I had the best surprise ever when our regular visitor, a greater spotted woodpecker, brought her baby with her - I first thought it was her partner as it was the same size, but then she started to feed it. It made my day!

lotsofcats We have food out in the other garden. We can't really put food out in the garden where the box is because it's a lot smaller and any food we put out would be too close to the nest box - we've got nest boxes in the other garden too, and despite birds investigating them, they never seem to get occupied and we can only assume they're too close to the food. We get magpies coming down for food from our garden, so we didn't want to attract them too near the babies! They've got enough to contend with with my neighbour's cats. We have regular robin visitors, and we've had a family of starlings too. This lot of great tits were the second lot born in that box. We had a nest in there a couple of years ago too - I think these parents might be the same ones, but it's hard to tell. They don't sit still long enough to see any markings. We always know our robins because one of them has white markings on it's wings

This wet weather seems to have deterred visitor as to our feeders other than the pidgeons! We don't have any nest boxes but the hedgehog house was taken over by bees a couple of years ago. The council took that to somewhere in the country that was happy to have bees. this year they were in a planter, same process.

A few years ago we had tree bees in a little bird house we have. We just left them to it, no-one went near them and they didn't bother us. Then they left. We've not had them since.

Hello all!!! Just decided to pop in and see how you all are. I do float around here a little bit every now and then but don't really have much to post about regularly . Nothing too strange here to be honest. I passed all my exams and graduated uni last friday so that was great! Nice to be done with it all, haha! And as for my working and zoo course predicament a few months ago, I applied to do the course in zookeeping and I'll be staying at my current job in the zoo. My parents aren't too pleased with my decision and really really tried to stop me but eventually they realized that they wouldn't change my mind and stopped making my life so difficult. My plan is to get a part time vet nurse job on the side but there are quite literally no nursing jobs remotely near me at the moment so I'm a bit of a sitting duck at the moment in that area. And things at home aren't exactly problem free but for the most part if I avoid talking about anything work related I can avoid most conflicts . Hopefully everything will work itself out though eventually. Oscar is good too! He's 9 now but still mental as ever. He had a little run in with rat poison at work a little while ago but he's been fine ever since, although he wears a muzzle now to avoid anymore rat poison incidents!

Hi Bex well I am soooo pleased that you followed your heart and didnt let your folks wear you down , as said before , this is your life your future, you can't live it for them , you have to live it for you. You have been thru a few upheavals, moving house , from the country to housing estate etc , so pleased they finally see it from your eyes and heart. Good luck with everything, keep popping in , we want to follow your dreams with you , well, this oldie does

Congratulations on completing your degree bextull and passing your exams. Also glad to see your sticking with the zoology, we could all see that is were your passion is. And once you complete all your qualifications, the world is your oyster. So relived to see that Oscar had no lasting damage from his rat poison encounter. Keep popping back and letting us know what your up to, like scallywag says, I love hearing all about what your doing.

Congratulations bextull you have done really great 😊x All that hard work definitely paid off x Hoping the weather stays dry tomorrow morning my better half is doing total warrior in Leeds tomorrow in aid for men’s mental health 😊unfortunately I can’t go with him to support him has it will probably be a long day and I have nobody to look after the dogs for me . Although he is doing it with his work buddies. Riley is not so much of a problem because he’s a slouch potato in the day but we have been having problems with Elsa during the day so we can’t leave her too long ☹️ Hubby says he will try and face time me 😊now that will freak me out 😂

Congratulations bextull on passing your exams & graduating from uni. So what's the letters you can now add to your name? Good luck with the zookeeping course and fingers crossed you can find that part time vet nurse job which I suspect will ease the situation at home. You must have been worried with Oscar & the rat poison but glad it all worked out OK & that's a sensible solution to avoiding the risk in the future.

Fingers crossed for your weather tomorrow chantel . I've not heard of Total Warrior so googled it. www.totalwarrior.co.uk/course/ Good grief that's strenuous 12K plus obstacles some of which sound very uncomfortable amongst others. Your OH sounds like a glutton for punishment or least that's would be if it was me doing it (no way)! I wish him good luck. Do you get his washing afterwards? Hope you have a nice day with the dogs at home, a shame you couldn't take them with you to support him.

Had a windows update last night (a major one) and it's change the settings on my keypad and will only log me into my laptop on a temporary profile so I've effectively lost all my files. Now I'm going to have to pay someone to sort out my laptop. Beware everyone if you get the notice to update your computer.
