Haven't tried that yet SarahHound I'd probably land up putting creases in the ironing rather than taking them out if trying to use a Kindle at the same time

I've always loved the idea of a kindle but I love the feel of having a book in my hands and turning each page. I also love seeing my shelves stacked with books. I find something very homey about having them there around me. Call me weird lol my books are part of the furniture here.

PF, I got a book case in my room especially for all my doggy books. It would look very bare without it!

We're running out of space for bookcases! The Kindle comes in useful for books I'll only read once, although still get some paper books & they get sent to the charity bookshop when finished. Must sort out some more as the OH & I often read the same book so they don't get cycled as propmptly as they should.

I feel you PF. My sister and I switched rooms last weekend and Dad suggested that I put some of my old books in the shed! How dare he, they're pretty to look at and can you imagine them being in the cold and dark down there. I got a new phone this week and I've been reading so much on it. It's great for the school bus in the morning, just put on my earphones and I'm oblivious to the world, which is a good thing at times, the lads on my bus are complete knobs.

I could never bring myself to own a kindle. I think if you have the luxury of being able to read ordinary books still, nothing will ever beat a REAL book. I don't want the print trade killed off either. I can't imagine the world without books.
My granddad has one so that he can make the text bigger, otherwise he cannot read, and he ALWAYS has a book. He read to me when I was growing up, every night at bedtime. My love of books came from him. For him, I am thankful for the existence of technology that still allows him to do the things he loves. He adores his kindle!
But they're not for me!

I get you Pawsforthought I love books & stationery!! But kindles are great for when you go on holiday, you can take so many books without taking up any space. And like tonib says, it's ideal for books I will only read once. Ooh they are also great for when I want to read in bed cause I haven't got any pages to turn so hubby can go to sleep next to me!! Kindles are PawSome!!

He adores his kindle! But they're not for me! Honestly, up until recently I said the exact same thing. I bought one for my mother 2 years ago and although she loves it, it just didn't interest me in the slightest. I hated them! However with having to share a bedroom, and not being able to leave the light on when I want to read, its great for that. It's also good because I can prop it upright when I'm ironing and I can still read my book without holding it or it flipping shut again. I really wouldn't be without it now, I love it. I still have loads of paper books but already over 70 Kindle books because they were free or cheap!
