Mam and I were discussing this yesterday, we are both against them. I see their benefits, cheaper than new books, and you don't need storage but you can't beat the feel and smell of a real book. I suppose a e-reader would eliminate pet peeves such as dog eared pages or my biggest one, the publisher changing the size or design of a book in a series. I have self diagnosed Ocd when it comes to things being in order and that really annoys me.
What about library books to save space. Ps, can anyone explain to me how on earth people can make notes and highlight books that aren't school books?

Kindle books can sometimes be more expensive than printed books. Something to do with no vat on printed books and vat on kindle books

Judypops, I use post it notes, write on them then stick them on the page. I can't bring myself to deface books I had to write all over my school anthology book and it was so painful haha

I agree with you & charlottte about highlighting & notating books, even school books I wouldn't permanently mark, the use of post it stickers is a good one. I must admit that the ability to highlight without damaging the original copy is a bonus of the Kindle. Kindle books can sometimes be more expensive than printed books. Something to do with no vat on printed books and vat on kindle books Must admit to only getting Kindle books that are less than a paperback by a noticeable bit.

Well i have never been that interested in kindles, i just like to pick up a book and i don't think it would be quite the same, i agree with judypops.
But having said that my best friend has a kindle but just the basic one i think, she loves it and says she wouldn't be without hers , she says it is great for taking on holiday/traveling etc it does look really good but like i said i love to pick a book up and don't know if picking up a kindle would be quite the same. Also i suffer with very bad migraines and don't know how i would go on with the brightness on the kindle. But i was very impressed when i saw my friends.

I have the kindle touch and I have found that it is easier to hold, still read and fuss a dog than do the same with a normal book

Enjoy the new kindle when it arrives. Next will be the fun of deciding what to read, especially checking out the free or cheap book offers! Well I did anyway.

I have a Kindle Fire and I have had it since Christmas 2012. It's great as you can store loads of books (and even try samples for free!) with no other space but the Kindle itself. I don't know how much memory it has though, so...! I have read quite a few books on my Kindle, but I still buy books to read from shops (that are actually printed books). Good job on making your decision on a Kindle, you will find it is worth it cazypops - take a Kindle in the bath and you'll have yourself electrocuted... take a printed book into the bath and you'll end up dropping it - I don't take either into the bath However I do have an odd acquaintance who takes her mobile phone into the shower with her so she doesn't have to be parted with this Facebook.

Not if you're super careful and have it out over the edge. I think I'd cry if a dropped a book in the bath but the chances of that happening are slim to none seeing as I rarely have baths. (Just to clarify, I take showers instead )
