I'm interested in seeing what people think of the organisation peta.
I like how they campaign against animal testing and cruelty, but I don't particularly like how they, ehm, 'encourage' vegetarianism and veganism. I think they make it seem like vegetarians and vegans are better than those who eat meat. I generally hate any sort of 'holier than thou' attitude. They have some very graphic videos of slaughterhouse scenes which are aimed at younger people (I found it on Facebook). They also have a 'cooking mama' game on the website which is a bit disturbing, especially for a young age group. I found all of this when I was roughly 14 and I can't say it didn't affect me. Watching the video of the slaughterhouse had me in tears- I never cry when watching a video. (The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Forrest Gump,Bambi, My Girl and The Lion King got nothing out of me, Marley and Me got a little eye leak, we had just had our cat pts.)
Anyway, what do you think?

I hate PETA with a passion, they have their ideas totally in the wrong place. In America things seem to be particularly bad. I've seen videos and websites from their activists encouraging people to take their perfectly healthy animals to be euthanised because they would be better off dead than being kept as a pet.
Wrong on so many levels. They've tried and hit the wrong areas. Shocking people the way PETA does, into doing things doesn't get results, education does.

When I was 17 I watched their Meet Your Meat video. It was horrid and I ended up becoming a pescitarian for 2 1/2 years.
I don't agree with the way they do things at all.

Peta do take things to the extreme. The want to shock people and they do and they have got a lot results from their campaigns. I can't say I agree with everything they say or do. I receive a lot of these videos and I cannot watch most of them. There is one I received recently, a video/info from the actress Pamela Anderson about a well known fast food chain. I can't watch it. My husband loves this particular food and I haven't even shown it to him. I am actually with Viva! I totally believe in their work. There has to be a voice for the animals and they are helping to bring to light and stop so much of the cruelty that goes on in this country towards defenceless animals. I am vegan but that is MY choice. If people are interested and want to know more about it, then fine I am happy to chat about it but I personally never force my views on anyone. I have taken some right stick about it over the years especially as years ago few people knew what a vegan even meant and it was hard because there was little out there for us vegans and eating out was a nightmare. It is not much better now but getting there as our numbers are increasing.

I understand that this actually happens and we can't just ignore it but they take it to the extreme and beyond. I wonder if her fake breasts and other procedures came about from animal testing, I'd say so.

I think they mean well but take things to extreme Have to agree with you all especially the above quote. I tend to avoid these videos ( even though I have watched snippets but turned them off) when they come into my news feed on FB-I love animals too much to want to watch what I already know the human race puts them through. Yes I am a carnivore, and I know some of these animals come to a horrible end in life, but that is my chosen way of life and I will not be forced into changing that.

You can buy cruelty free meat, and free range as well You don't have to stop eating meat to avoid the cruelty, just buy from ethical sources. Tastes far better too!

I hate PETA. The way they put things across, is always exaggerated, they always seem to have the wrong or really unnecessary solutions for things. Such as putting perfectly happy pets to sleep for simply being pets and what have you. Nope, just don't like 'em.
