I saw this had gone viral on YouTube and I thought I'd share it here to get some opinions from you guys. I think that he did what he could to save his pet but it was a bit on the extreme side, if you watch the video you can see just how hard he threw the raccoon, down a stairwell on to the concrete. Could he not have just removed the dog from the situation?. The raccoon was attacking the dog, yes, but that's it's nature, they scavenge and are known to be aggressive. I think that raccoons are cute BAMF's, I mean look at this;

certainly a violent throw, but you perhaps sympathise when his dog was involved. Just hope the racoon was OK. its a debatable issue.
Love the 2nd video, the way the racoon is dunking the kibble in the ater before eating.

Aww how adorable is the second one! I love how it's not phased by the cats! I'll get back to the first video later, I'm late for work

And to keep a light tone to this, have a look at how 4 cats and a dog(in the back corner) react to a texidermy bobcat ;

Well the first one... the raccoon was attacking his dog, and that dog was his beloved pet, however, when the camera turned to show the throw down the stairwell, you could see what a hard throw it was. I'm not going to say he shouldn't have done that to protect his dog, because if he simply removed the dog, the racoon could quickly and easily come back...!! Let's just hope the racoon was not harmed to much. The second video is lovely, the racoon just gets on with eating and doesn't pay much attention to the cats! The third one... well the tabby cat sort of waited for the other cats to act! You could see it looking their way! The cats obviously didn't like it when the third cat touched noses with the texidermy bobcat! The dog in the back looked inquisitive but didn't react as bad as the cats as far as I could see! The cats raced away and the dog just stood their with its head held high bless.

I don't think you can bring animal rights into this one he was very panicked for his dog. Until you can look at your dog you have no idea how badly hurt it is, and when it's still being attacked your ONLY thought is to get its attacker OFF and NOW. He threw it to make sure it was far away from his dog. I wouldn't randomly throw an animal, but I would do ANYTHING (and that could include throwing, kicking, finger-up-butt) to make sure my dogs were ok, and I don't think I'd be able to think all that rationally if my dog was being savaged by some wild animal.

He didn't have to throw the raccoon so hard is all I have to say but then again he was panicked, worried for his dog and probably angry at the whole incident. Sorry but the fact the dog's called Toaster does make me chuckle
