Pets I own: Rosie a Maine Coon, Red and Cream.Aged 4 year in (May2014), a BIG quiet girl, and TiaMaria a Black Russian years on (Nov 2013) who is amazing fun.
Sadly Tia was killed in July 2014 by a car.
My son has Parkinsons and lives 2 miles from me. I got him RILEY a black stray 2year old in February 2014, but from a rescue 14 months ago.Very involved with him !
Pebbles age unknown, thrown out of a car, went to my daughter. Also involved with him ! ALL are adorable and so different.
Now (OCT 2014) have a kitten called Lilyana. She looks like her Mum, a Russian Blue. Her Dad is a Rag Doll. She was born on 24/07/2014....the day my darling Tia was killed on the road.
This was meant to be and she is helping me grieve for Tia. Lilyana is delightful.Rosie is now taking to her

Have you got any feliway? That may help to calm her down. I think she's probably very worked up at the moment and you're best to leave her. Is there a special food treat you could give her to maybe bring her down a bit quicker? I agree with your tactic of not forcing yourself on her to check her over. Good on you for also caring about the other cat's welfare.

Poor Rosie - I hope she will be better soon. I would have suggested the Feliway diffuser as well, it is very good for calming pets down that are very nervous. I think you are doing what you can - give her lots of treats and gentle talk and perhaps she will let you check that she hasn't been injured. I expect her pride has been hurt.

Feliway or Pet Remedy was my thought. You're doing what you can & hopefully she'll gradually calm down. Then I hope you find she's OK - cat fights often sound worse than they are.

Thank you all. It is 6 hours since it happened but she is still traumatised and hissing at me. I spoke to the vet who asked me to bring her so that she could check her out, but I said no as that would make her even worse. She gave me Zylkene pills which are homeopathic and said to put them in her food, but I won't do that until the morning. They are meant to calm her down. I did talk to the other cats owner. She said he is a real bully and bullies her other two cats. I was not complaining because he is obviously territorial and is parading his territory. You can't do anything about it as far as I know. She said she would check him over. My other cat, Tia is a small black Russian. She has tuned into the dreadful atmoshere in the house. She keeps going to look at Rosie but does not go close. I think Feliway sounds a good idea. I'll go out now and get it. Anyone know how to get rid of the black atmosphere in the house ? Never had it before and it is not good.

Feliway should help both cats & hopefully calm things down. One of our cats has Zylkene which are capsules which we open & put the powder in her moist food with no problem, in fact she seems to eat more of that than her morning feed!
Hope everything settles back down soon.

Firstly calming the atmosphere starts with you. If you have a relaxing candle light that. Do some calming breaths till you feel your mind calming. Think back to a happy to time with your cats and focus on that and smile. Then imagine a bright but gentle rosy pink light start in your chest and then radiate from you into every corner of your home. You are probably very upset about what's happened which is understandable. Calm yourself and the rest will follow.
