I walked our dogs at 5.15am and it was 15 degrees or so. The walk we went on was shady and it was lovely and cool! I left my car boot open (secured with a vent lock) and put a silver sheet over all day while I was at work, but it was still saying 38 degrees when I got in at 3.30pm. I rearranged Pepper's hydro appointment that she was meant to have this afternoon at 5.30 because it was just too hot for me to put her in the car. She'll be fine for another week. I've just taken them for their second walk about an hour ago and had to put Pepper's cooling vest on when we got back because she was panting so much. It's still 24 degrees out there >.<

I think it might have rained here overnight, not sure. Our garden paths were all soaked when I got up, but that could have been my dad watering the plants! We walked just before 8am today, because the temperature was at least 20 degrees all through the night/early hours of the morning so it made no difference really. It was still fairly cool when we were out though. I checked the path and it was cold to the touch, so no worries there either. We didn't go far. We met some puppies and Pepper literally ran and hid from them.

I had a shocking night with the dogs Elsa was panting but was happy on her cooling mat but Riley was so warm and restful, panting like crazy but he wouldn’t entertain the cooling mat , the fan was going all night - I ended up getting up around 4:30 with Riley and I slept on the sofa . He has got a really thick double coat at the moment ☹️ I booked him in at the groomers just to thin it out a bit for him but couldn’t get him in for a couple of weeks,at least it’s cooler today 😊

Poor Riley's not coping well with the heat. Shame you couldn't get him fitted in at the groomers. Hopefully it get's much cooler for him.

Despite Roman & Osiris, in particular, having thick coats they don't seem to be too bothered by the hot weather, finding shade if they need it or enjoying the warmth for a while. Osiris is moulting but he seems to be always doing that by the fur on the carpet or bed! They seem to tolerate it better than me. Mind you Roman does tell me to open the summer house in the morning when its in the shade!
They don't seem bothered by any thunderstorms, although Osiris can want a bit of assurance if its very loud. Even the heavy rain didn't stop them going out.
Today was sunny but not over hot & then heavy showers later tonight. Osiris & Roman were already out but came in dry so must have been sheltering whilst Lexie went out & returned crunching some insect I suspect it was a moth but couldn't see it properly before it vanished inside her! She was butterfly hunting during the day. I don;t know which came off worse the conservatory brick wall or her paws as she launched at it a sunning butterfly which she didn't get!!!

My cats are not too bothered by the hot weather tonib - I'm surprised considered 5 of them are long-haired. They are all moulting so much. I brush them twice a day. Bramble just keeps on moulting. It poured down overnight. Guess who spent almost an hour watering the garden next door? (and I leaned over the fence and watered my pots and border!). My neighbour is away and I had to water the garden, feed her hedgehogs and birds. The bird food ran out on Saturday! Luckily I had some and I bought some more yesterday. Can't starve the birds!

Typical sunny yesterday when back at work ☹️
We went to a dogfest on Sunday but only stayed for a short time because of the rain ☹️ I mainly wanted to go and see how Elsa was with all the other dogs , she can be very excited when she sees a dog whilst out walking but when they come to say hello she doesn’t like it ☹️ She did really well , she was very excited. it was just a few of the larger breeds she didn’t like - she probably felt a little intimidated by them . She would have won an award for the noisiest dog if they did one - she barked all the way around - she was certainly very vocal .
Riley really enjoyed it too although no so impressed getting wet 😊

Shame it rained at the dogfest on Sunday for you chantel. My dog Kobi would have been the same as Elsa with the barking. I think they would have been joint 1st for the prize for the noisiest dog.
