Evening all, over the last week we've had problems with Munchkin and her litter tray, We've never had a problem with her before, we've not changed the brand of litter or moved it, its changed regulary, but she seems to miss the tray when she goes for a wee! it seems she goes into the tray to to it squats but most of it goes onto the floor! her tray is quiet deep in comparison to others on the market as she likes to make a pile of the litter to poop on. any ideas? ?

Tried an enclosed one? Maybe a chat with a vet nurse to see if it's behavioural or physical issue? Any other cats about that may be stressing her so she's territory marking?

If she squats I would have thought that it would be difficult to miss the tray if she's in it. However if she's having difficulty passing urine then it maybe that she hasn't finished when she gets up. I would suggest that you have a word with the vets & see if they have any ideas or think they should see Munchkin.
I've not had any experience with a cat that has cystitis but other on the forum have so may be able to say whether this behaviour is a symptom.
Hope you can get it sorted.

Wilf misses the tray quite regularly. Its because he's in too much of a hurry to make sure his bottom is the right side of the edge. As he's the only one using the indoor facilities now I don't make a fuss, just throw the paper away.

Yes camorris, I think that's what munchkin is doing, she likes to pile up her litter before she uses it and then squats, ive been discreetly watching her, she's not straining ,but thanks everyone for the advice

I would change her tray to an enclosed type with a hood on, or a larger tray, maybe the one she uses is too small for her?
