My neighbour has a dog and cat and her daughter has a dog and cat. Recently her daughter brought her dog and cat to live next door as she is having a new kitchen and bathroom installed. The 2 cats hate each other and have to be kept in separate rooms and the first cat hates the new dog.
Mewp, the cat was named when she was found as a kitten on an industrial estate hiding under a mobile, elevating, work platform (M.E.W.P.). She is just one year old and is a diluted tabby tortie. She got out of the house yesterday morning. My neighbour thought she could here her in the undergrowth behind her studio in the garden. When she called she heard a faint miaow. Hubby went round with a torch at 10.30pm but they couldn't see her. This morning my neighbour was up at 7am with the strimmer cutting down the brambles and hubby went round to help, but no sign of poor kitty. She has been missing 24 hours now with no access to food or water. I hope she is found soon. When she first arrived next door about 2 weeks ago, my neighbour asked if I wanted her - hubby said no (I can't think why).

When she first had the cat about 2 weeks ago she took her to the vets and was told not to let her out for 3 months. She let her out a bit last week but she didn't go out of the garden. She was an outdoor cat when she lived with my neighbour's daughter. It's the front road I'm worried about scallywag, it's the main road to the local primary school and it's narrow with no pavements. When I walk down the road to my car in the mornings I'm almost pinned against the wall as mad school teachers and parents drive up the road as if they are in a rally.

So its the daughters cat that's missing lotsofcats? Was it allowed out at the daughter's? If so its possible that it may try to find its way back to the daughter's. Whenever we've got another cat the rescue always told us not to let them out for 6 weeks with Roan it was 8 weeks as he'd gone missing for a week from a previous home as they let him out early. I hope its found soon. Is the daughter expecting to take her dog & cat back when the work is done? If so why did your neighbour offer her to you?

I think that the daughter wants to rehome Mewp tonib. Yes, the cat went out at home. Good news, she came back last night, walked in the house, ate food, had a drink, ran upstairs and stole the other cat's food and then went back out!! She was a feral kitten so perhaps there's still a bit of that in her, she seems to be none the worse for not having food and drink for nearly 2 days.

lotsofcats, Glad to hear she can find her new home & is none the worse for her diet, although she may well have supplemented her cat food diet with the local wildlife, although it sounds as though she certainly made up for missing her meals! Its a shame that the daughter wants to rehome her, hopefully she can find a rescue that will take her or a family that will look after her.

I think the daughter works away sometimes as an HGV driver tonib and it's easy to take the dog to her mother's for a few days but not so easy with a cat. Hopefully Mewp will settle into a routine and get used to a new home. It's the other cat I feel sorry for as when Tizzy the dog is visiting she hides upstairs.

Glad to see Mewp is back. Maybe they will be like your toffee or Tay just coming when they are hungry. Once feral.....

It's a hard environment for cats as u said drop the dog to.mum but cats don't like change and find it more difficult than dogs

I was in the garden last night about 9pm and I heard my neighbour talking to Mewp. The cat had just turned up and she was trying to get her in for some food - I don't think the cat wanted to go in.

I don't think Mewp will come in my garden because of Toffee and Kobi. Not that I wouldn't have wanted Mewp if hubby had said I could!
