Update on Freddy- he was back at the vets to see the nurse for a check up . His stitches were dangling so the nurse removed them because food was getting stuck to them . He wasn’t impressed but I think he feels more comfortable now 🐱 His gum looks like it is healing nicely but still very red and not out of the woods yet - still the chance of getting an infection but he is much happier today 🐱

Glad that Freddy has had his stitches out, I thought they would have dissolved by now. Hopefully he will now be happier eating his food. Are you still changing him over to the other vets chantel?

Let me know lotsofcats - it includes dental too 🐱 It will be interesting 🤔 to see what they quote. I had Argos insurance with sindy too. They won't even give me a quote as my cats are over 10 years old! You'll have to remember not to change Freddy's as other companies won't quote on over 10 year olds either. I couldn't bring myself to finish Kali, Blackberry and Willow's insurance cover. So, I've changed to a Max Value Cover, which is up to £1,000 per condition and is £10.68 each per month. Once I get to £1,000 on a condition that is it, I can't claim again for it. I will consider again next year stopping the policies, when I have saved a bit more in my 'vet account'.

Yes lotsofcats I’m still changing him over to Greens vets apparently it is a family run practice and I have had quite a few recommendations and it’s not too far either 🐱i’v already registered the pigs - they’re is an exotic vet too and they specialise in small fury animal’s 🐹 Although I’m hanging on registering Freddy just h go or a bit just incase anything happens from his dental problem his gums are not quite healed yet and I was worried in case I have to take him back with any issues. But another bonus is I asked the new vets if they did any kind of vip to cover flea/ worming /boosters and check up I pay £15.99 at the moment at the current vets - Greens vets do it for £12.00 a month so I would be saving £3.99 a month every penny counts at the minute with the rise of living costs 🐱

That's great with the new vets being cheaper for the monthly cover chantel. I don't know how much my vets do that for as I've never considered it because I have so many pets.

You definitely get more back being in the vip but know what you mean about having too many pets lotsofcats . The payments recently went up I pay £15.99 a month for Freddy Elsa’s has recently gone up from £15.99 to £17.99 And Riley’s is £17.99 ( I think it goes on weight) I couldn’t afford to add on the pigs It seems a lot but like I said you get quite a bit back - I got 10% off for Freddy’s dental with him being a vip Also any meds/ or specialised diets I get so much off - Riley’s joint supplements I get 10% off it does make a difference 😀

Freddy is really frustrating me at the moment 🙈he started around 1 year ago popping on the mat just at the entrance of his hooded litter box , no issues ever before. So we decided to take the hood off the litter tray , I thought maybe he just felt he didn’t have enough room to turn around 🤔 When we took the hood off he did poop in the litter box most of the time , although sometimes on the mat, but I noticed that he was spraying wee on the wall and the skirting board where is litter box is, so I managed to find a litter box with high sides and thought we had cracked it but I could really smell wee and when I looked the skirting board and the end of the bed was soaked Grrr . So we decided to put his old hooded litter box down and to be fair most of the time he poops inside , it’s just the odd time which I can cope with.
I have put a towel down underneath his litter box but noticed a wet patch at the back of the litter box , so he is either squeezing himself between the end of the bed and his litter box or it is leaking out of the box at the back where it has clips on either side to lock it , I’m just not sure what’s happening but it’s really frustrating me , so at the moment I’m washing the towel underneath his box and replacing with a clean one 🙈
I have ordered some puppy pads from Amazon , I thought I would stand his litter box on a towel and place a puppy pad at the back , that way if he wee’s I can just bin it and replace with a new one and hopefully stop the smell of urine .
I’m not really sure what is happening 🤷♀️maybe it’s an age thing ! 🤷♀️

Sorry to hear about Freddy's toileting issues chantel. Out of interest what are you using to clean the areas that get wet? Getting properly rid of the stain/smell to a cat's nose can often be difficult. Has anything changed with his litter or products used to clean the tray? Osiris got in the habit of using the litter mat instead of the litter tray but that was eventually (after a number of years) solved when we discovered that he preferred wood pellet litter!!! Is he weeing or spraying on the areas that get wet? Difficult to know unless you see him, perhaps a video camera focused on the tray may help to find out, if you've got a spare Also is he finding it more difficult to crouch & hence the weeing is finding a gap more easily? Or is he being stressed by anything? Does he only have 1 tray? If so is he perhaps using the tray more, often an issue as cats (& us get older & hence being not liking using a used tray? I'm sure you've thought of all of these but just in case ....

Yes it’s difficult to know what he is thinking tonib 🙈he used to have pellets but the price increased so much we changed it to some grit litter which he seems to be pooping on most of the time , the pellets he tended to poop on the mat so not sure if a issue regarding the litter. I think he must have been spraying at the back of the tray for a while , but we didn’t notice until he had the tray without the hood , I noticed it on the skirting board and the valance on the bottom of the bed. I use disinfectant when I’m wiping it up. I’m just waiting for the puppy pads from Amazon to be delivered, this will definitely help .

chantel, Disinfectant might not remove the urine smell, for a cat's nose, which can attract them to use the same area again. I have the Simple Solutions Stain & Odour removal spray for cats. You can get the spray at PAH as well as online. There is also a larger size which is basically a refill (+) for the spray not available from PAH stores but they do have it online. I believe its also available on Amazon and probably other pet stores. I think there is an Extreme version and a Hard surfaces one. I've not tried it but there is a Dr Beckmann pet stain & odour remover so can't comment on its effectiveness. I've used the Simple Solutions for years going back to 2012/13 (or even before) when we introduced Lexie and Penny & her got really stressed out & this was causing inappropriate urination! It also helped clean up Osiris's mis use of the litter mat etc. & the odd other accident, furball stain etc.
