I am considering adding Chia seeds to my dogs diet. Just wondered if anyone has ever given them and if they ground them or soaked them and if they soaked them for how long? Reason for adding is to add an alternative source of omega fatty acids as both dogs could do with helping skin and coat as well as helping immune system. Also thinking on fibre basis as Phoebe can occasionally have anal gland issues so anything that might help her keep emptying them regularly would be good. www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/chia-for-pets/

All my stomach problems started when i started having chia seeds every day, may have been just coincidence, but then learned about the intestines having little pockets seeds could get trapped in and irritate causing diverticulitus , could this happen to dogs ? Just a thought caz2golden have you tried GROUND FLAX Seeds for helping with bowel movements ?

I guess the same principles could affect a dog i.e if there are small pockets then like us they could get something stuck. I get confused about flaxseed, assume in shops it is linseed but then you have golden and brown and unsure which is the best nutritionally! Reading this perhaps they should have both! healthyeating.sfgate.com/chia-seeds-vs-flaxseeds-2070.html To be honest was just wanting to add one thing to see if it makes a difference.
