I'm using Frontline Plus every month without fail, but Flirty is still coming home with ticks. I don't know where he's going to keep getting them, but today we had to remove 2 of the horrid things and one of them was the size of my thumb nail. Can anyone suggest anything else I can use as I don't think the Frontline is working. Flirts weighs about 6kg so maybe the cat one just isn't strong enough for him.

I think lotsofcats uses Frontline Combi cazypops. We're still using Frontline or although have just tried Frontline+ so we'll see. I use Advocate for Roman & Lexie but that doesn't cover ticks so do use Frontline in the summer for them - they have had a bald spot appear with Frontline on occasion, so don't really want to use it Osiris has no problem with it. Only ever seen a tick on Roman once & that was when we had switched to Advocate!

I think I'm going to have to go a talk to the vet tonib, and see if he can recommend something with Flirts being a big cat. Think you need a prescription for the Frontline Combi don't you?

Never had a problem and use frontline combi. But have to get it over the counter at the vets, no consultation needed.

You're right cazypops you either need to get the Combi from the vets (they usually need to have seen the cat within the previous 6 months) or get a prescription for use online. All depends what the cost of 6 capsules is online plus a vets prescription cost is compared to the vet's price as to which is best. Of course it also means 6 monthly vet visits not sure how Flirty would take to that.

Guys, I need help. My dog is usually itching all over nowadays. I don't know if it's because of the ticks, but there's just a few. I bought him tick control medication from petstreetmall and it worked. I just need some recommendations to help or make the itch more manageable for my dog. Suggestions are much appreciated.

Of course it also means 6 monthly vet visits not sure how Flirty would take to that. Personally I don't think thats fair if your pet is registered with them and been seen by them at some point then you should be able to pick up the phone and order some. Both the vets I use will issue from a phone call one vet I only stay registered with in case I cant get into my prefered vet, so hardly take Beau to them

Sorry scallywag I didn't mean that you have to go to the vets with the cat for the treatments, just that the vet has to have seen the cat in the last 6 months in which case they will happily provide the POM (prescription only) products from a phone call order. With Roman & Lexie at the moment that hasn't meant any extra vet visits but with Osiris we have to take him for a health check twice a year as he has Profender wormer. Mind you I don't begrudge that

Luckily (touch wood) I've never seen a tick on any of my present cats. One cat out of 5 cats I had years ago used to get them. They are disgusting creatures!

Your right lotsofcats they are disgusting. Looks like I need to go and talk to the vet or vet nurse and see what they have to say before making an appointment for him. goldenlabbie I think what your are describing are flees not ticks and a good flee treatment and maybe combing with a flee comb should help, or you could try bathing you dog with medicated shampoo. Hope this helps.

I was wandering about and stumble apon this i was just thinking to myself and all MY cats its soon going to be tick treatment time but reading here seems now is as good as time as any i wad thinking it was to cold but seems not but i dont know a lot about them dog thingsπbut if a dog was itchy all over could it be a food thing if there is a lot of sugar in the food it could drive the blood wild if u were to wet ur hands and dampen his coat see if that would help with the itch if it does i have another trick to help if not its tick or vet
