My Darling girl is really poorly. Her food intake had seem to drop over the last few weeks, but as they both get fed on demand it's been hard to keep track, and when I've mentioned it to OH, he's said he's fed her and she's eaten it. I've also noticed that her water intake has increased over the same period, but on Friday she nibbled at her wet food had a drink and not have any food for the rest of the day till late. When I got up for work on Saturday she didn't come for her breakfast just had a drink when I got home at dinnertime then went out under her tree and wouldn't come back in. When OH got home earlier this morning he managed to get her in, but she's very weak and now wont eat or drink. Managed to keep her in now and she's curled up asleep, but if you try and touch her she just growls at you. Plus she's started to smell. Will get her into the vets as soon as we can. I'm very worried about her.

Thanks scallywag , will do. She's just had a drink, but no food. Not even her fav treat of a bit of raw mince will tempt her.

How old is she? Has she lost much noticeable weight? Perhaps she has a rotten tooth or a sore mouth which is making eating painful You know how stoic cats are compared to dogs....they only look ill when they're REALLY feeling it I'm sure it'll be something easily remedied with a quick course of antibiotics or an injection and your gorgeous girl will be back to full fitness ion no time (((HUGS)))

As to how old she is, we don't know. We are guessing about 11/12 but that's all it is, a guess. I know I saw her pawing her mouth again the other day so fingers crossed that's what it is, but she had to have a tooth out a few weeks ago but nothing else was seen at the time. I'm more worried about the increase in drinking but now having very little.

Poor Bandit! Hope its not as bad as it seems cazypops. If you have a syringe at home you could try giving her water to prevent dehydration - that is if she will let you - cats make terrible patients! I'm in the same boat at the moment...my 11 yr old male cat hasn't been well this week either. His bloods came back fine Friday so he's going in for x rays tomorrow. He's still eating and drinking but very subdued, has very obvious pain in his back/hind legs and doesn't want to be touched, which is so unlike him. Crate rest and meloxicam for a few days but no improvement. They really do worry you don't they?

Thanks gypsy the syringe was my first thought, but like you say she's a bad patient. She has had a couple of drinks since my first post but still no food. I hope your old man picks up soon too. They really do worry us yes.

Well we've kept Bandit in since yesterday so we could keep a proper eye on her. When we got up this morning she'd used the litter tray for a wee, and with her being so weak she only managed to get on the edge so the was wee all round the tray edge. It was just as well really as we could see that she's passing blood in her urine. Got her into the vets after work and he's had a good look at her, well as far as she'd let him anyway. He "THINKS" it's an abscess at the back of her mouth, caused by another rotten tooth, but until he can knock her out to have a proper look he wont know for sure. So she's back in tomorrow morning. I asked if this could be what's causing the blood in her wee, and he says yes, as it's infecting her system. He's given her an anti biotics and anti inflammatory injection to get her started, but he also said that when he has her asleep if what he can see in the back of her mouth isn't what he thinks it is, then he'll ring us and let us know as it could also be a tumor and would be the kindest thing not to wake her up if it is. right now I'm hoping for the best but preparing for the worse.

Well the x rays revealed some very mild arthritis in his hips (which you'd expect in an 11 yr old cat) but nothing else. Phew! I was worrying about tumours but thankfully not that. So we are thinking it may be soft tissue inflammation, probably from an injury. He does have a habit of chasing my other cats around the house and jumping off furniture at speed! He might be 11 but he certainly doesn't act it. Funny enough tonight since bringing him home, he has jumped up on the kitchen counter twice and luckily I've caught him before he's jumped down! This is a very good sign but he's going to have to spend most of his time in the large dog crate for now...for his own good until we are happy everything is okay. Hope everything okay with cazypops and Bandit.

Oh cazypops I hope this time tomorrow you have some good news. Hopefully it is just a bad tooth and resulting abscess. Be thinking of you tomorrow and sending lots of positive thoughts x

Oh you must be really worried cazypops, poor Bandit. I hope that the vet finds the cause of her no eating & the blood & fingers crossed its something that can be simply dealt with as gypsy's cat is.

Hopefully it IS just a mouth abscess and Bandit will be back home ASAP ((((((((((BIG HUGS)))))))))) Will be keeping EVERYTHING Crossed for you sweetie I'm just off to the vet now with Phoebe....but thankfully just for a check up on her spay. Personally if the way she and Loki were tearing around at 6am is owt to go by she's FULLY recovered from her op! Being woken by a rampaging kitten landing on one's head is NOT a good way to wake up
