It is horrible when you can't let your cat have any food from the night before, especially when you have other cats to feed. I have to starve Kai Ruki after 7pm tonight as he is going to have a tooth extraction tomorrow. I won't be able to leave any food down like I usually do and I'm dreading tomorrow morning as Kai Ruki is very vocal. I'll have to get some ear plugs I think. Hope you managed to get some sleep overnight lotsofcats & that Kai Ruki is recovering well from his tooth extraction today.

How is the big lad today (doesn't seem right to call him a wee man )? Probably just glad to be able to have his meals once more, yes?

Hope Kai Ruki is feeling better today, and is now a lot more comfortable after his tooth extraction.

When I went to collect Kai Ruki he was well and truly doped up with huge round eyes, bless him. The nurse said he had to have stitches when his tooth was removed as the gum had swollen up all around it. He then had to have an antibiotic injection and a pain killer injection. £109 to have one tooth out! The nurse told me to give Kai Ruki some chicken, fish or scrambled egg and to keep him in for the rest of the day. Kai Ruki is a strange cat and doesn't like chicken or fish and I wasn't even going to bother doing scrambled egg for him so I added water to one of his Gourmet Meaty Duos pouches and he wolfed that down and miaowed for another one. He is a lot happier and has stopped licking at the mesh in the pen and chewing on carrier bags. I have to take him for a check up this evening.

Ah bless. He'll be glad to get back to eating! Pleased everything went well. I always remember when Tia (RIP) was spayed, they said, light food only and just a little bit. Hah.... try telling her that. She wouldn't rest until she had 2 pouches and then decided it was time for a nap. Cast iron stomach she had!

Really glad to hear that Kai Ruki is home & recovering well lotsofcats. Poor boy with a swollen gum & stitches, having personally had a few teeth removed myself I can sympathise, although only had to hace stitches once. Hopefully he'll be a good boy & not play with them to much with his tongue & the vet will be happy with him tonight. I hope he's a good boy about taking medcines, debating with him would not be an easy job Luckily the only one of our cats that had dentals is Osiris (luckily no extractions) & he takes a bit to recover from the anaesthetic. As regards food Osris considers chicken & fish as a treat that he should have everyday!!!

As regards food Osris considers chicken & fish as a treat that he should have everyday!!! I should think any cat regards chicken and fish as a treat but not Kai Ruki, he is a strange cat. I took him for his check up and the vet said his gum is still red and she could see some food stuck in the stitches so she gave him an antibiotic injection. I told her that I was told on Friday he had been given a pain killer injection and an antibiotic injection but she said there was no record of him being given the antibiotic injection? I have to take him again on Friday for another check up. I didn't have to pay any extra for yesterday's injection, she said it would all be included in what I paid Friday.

Its funny Lexie isn't a big fan of fish, she might have a small amount but all 3 like chicken although Roman does prefer prawns. Poor Kai Ruki still having imflammed gums. Hope the antibiotic does the job, odd that you were told he'd had one whereas it wasn't on his record. I suspect it might be difficult to stop food getting caught in the stitches, humans are told to wt on the other side but somehow I don't think cats would quite understand that! Hope its all improved by Friday's check up lotsofcats

Kai Kuki was much admired by a new vet on Friday and he was fine at his check up. But, he did have a wound which he must have done in the pen. He has a round bald spot on the top of his head and a scratch. The vet checked it and she said it wasn't deep so I just put some antiseptic ointment on it. There are some bolts in the pen where the new parts have been put on so I assume the silly boy bashed he head against one - only Kai Ruki could do that - I couldn't find any of his fur by any of them. He made me laugh last night, he'd not long eaten 2 pouches of food when he started to make that noise cats make when a fur ball is imminent - then he puked it up all over the throw on the armchair, then he jumped on the floor and continued to puke in hubby's slippers!!! Ooops.

Oh dear cats do choose their locations for being sick with unerring precision don't they lotsofcats, at least the throw was washable (I hope) not so sure about the slippers - was a new pair on the cards? Glad to hear Kai Ruki's check up was OK but how do they find the silliest places to hurt themselves

The throw and the slippers washed ok tonib. I noticed last night that Kai Ruki's wound on his head had been bleeding again - perhaps he has been scratching it? I put more antiseptic ointment on it and hope he will leave it alone.

Oh poor boy, that's the trouble with cats can't put on protective plasters & a cone does seem a bit excessive!

Little monkey just DIVED into the food bowl and wolfed down a load of dry food before I could stop her - I think she was just miffed at having nowt since 6pm the previous evening! I gave a quarter of a sachet and she soon settled down after that and went to sleep.
