Hi ruby26 how are you getting on with Zeus now? In one of your last messages you mentioned he seemed to have settled down a little. If I can cast my mind back 5 years or so (and believe me it's easy to say with hindsight, I'm sure you will say the same in a couple of years) although we didn't realise it at the time one of the hardest things we found was to teach Dotty to learn to settle of her own accord. She acted up I would say until she was about 9 months old, or at least we didn't know quite how to deal with it. Like Zeus she was all bite and teeth, folk used to ask (jokingly I hope) if I'd been self harming as I'd be covered in scratch and teeth marks over my arms and neck. She would also latch onto our trouser legs and hold on, I managed to soon get her out of this habit, but even to this day if she is mega tired and can't settle she'll still try it on with other half as he doesn't enforce it. I suppose what I'm trying to say is to be strong and consistent in your approach, and this goes for everyone in your family. I always used to think that my job was quite stressful but I was good at it, however Dotty stressed me out to the high hilt and back! But at the same time she has taught me so much about myself and how I cope and how to manage her needs, and along with these guys on this forum I have learned how to cope, sometimes 'manage' the situation. Hope to hear you are all making good progress, Dotty is still very much a work in progress, car chasing, bike chasing, lunging at traffic etc (though to be fair she rarely reacts to suitcases now yayyy and it depends on how fast the jogger/cyclist is going) but that is a different story and I wouldn't change her for the world

Hi scallywag, boxerluver30 and McCuddles. Unfortunately I couldn't take Zeus to the training session as my daughter was poorly. The trainer is away for a couple of weeks now though so will book in again when she's back. The good news is Zeus's behaviour has improved quite a lot thanks McCuddles for your reply too, it's good to know that Zeus's behaviour is quite 'normal' for some dogs thanks again for your reply's xx

Good that zeus is improving behaviour wise, some dogs just need extra time, samson was a bugger at first as a puppy but improved when he got older

Yep totally agree with the above, none of us have perfect pets, and we all have to find our way in life as to what suits us and our pets. Good job you haven't given up on him just yet, Rome was not built in a day ( so they say )

The problems with this dog's behavior are way beyond internet advice. Ask your vet to do diagnostic blood work including a thyroid panel and testing for tick borne diseases, and if it is all normal for a referral to a behaviorist.

Wonder what the outcome was , posts just stopped so suddenly . My feeling is it never worked out , having read thru all the posts from 4 years ago , it was a very worry thread, specially as a 4 year old was being bitten too
