I took Bramble to the vet on Friday so that he could assess her and decide if she should have a scan. I couldn't get a urine sample so when the vet was prodding her bladder she peed all over the examining table!! Ii was everywhere, running into the 2 side compartments and dripping on the floor!. Bramble's revenge I think. Well, the vet got his sample which he checked against a chart and said she still has blood in her urine and an infection. He also managed to get a syringe and get some urine to be checked for crystals. He thinks he can feel something in her bladder - I am worried that it may be a tumour and this is why she is not showing any symptoms and why the 2 lots of antibiotics are not clearing the infection up. I have to take he into my vet's other branch (which is nearer where I work) where they have the scanning machine and the same vet will be there that day. I can drop Bramble off on my way into work and collect her later on.

Haha what a way to get a urine sample! Sorry to hear that there is still blood in it, I hope the scan goes well and that it turns out to be something that is easily treatable. That's handy that you can drop her off on your way to work and get her back afterwards anyway, and I'm sure working will help keep your mind off it a bit. Let us know how she gets on.

I have to starve her after 7pm Wednesday just in case they have to sedate her to do the scan, which I think they will do as she gets very stressed.

Oh I do hope all goes well for Bramble. Calypso is still on her antibiotics but she is peeing normally now. She had a tumble with O.T. when I was out of the room so didn't see what happened but I came and she was hissing at him. I think she must still be in a little pain and he must have somehow caught her. I have bought Broadreach Nature + urinary care advance, as I thought the antibiotics although good kill off good and bad bacteria and it gets good reviews so thought I would try her on it for a while and have ordered (after much reading) a pet water fountain.

I dropped Bramble off in the vets and just as I got there I noticed workmen and they decided to test the alarms - as if poor Bramble wasn't stressed enough!

She's okay. It was a long day of worrying especially when I phoned at 2pm to see if I could go and get her and they said the vet wanted to have another look at her and would phone me back. I waited until 4pm and rang them again and they said I could go and get her but my boss had gone out so I had to wait for him to get back. He said he'd be half an hour and was ages so I ended up going to collect Bramble in the rush hour/Christmas shopping traffic going to the vets and then going home. I was a bit annoyed that they had kept Bramble in the vets all day, starved from 7pm the previous day and didn't even sedate her for her scan. The vet said Bramble doesn't have crystals or stones in her bladder but the scan showed a shadow at the top of her bladder which, while he doesn't think it is anything very serious, he would like to know what it is and get her treated because of the continual presence of blood in her urine. She has to have another procedure in January - they can't do it before that because they will have to send a sample off to be tested and can't have it getting stuck in the post. Bramble will be sedated, have dye injected into her bladder and this will be x-rayed. They will also collect a urine sample direct from the bladder first by using a needle through her stomach. They have to order in a special testing kit and haven't done this procedure before.
