Definitely add my name in caz2golden! I've been looking to see if I can find the NRC report you mentioned, because if we can quote it, it might increase the chance of the letter being printed and answered. Unfortunately, all I've found so far is this - dels.nas.edu/resources/static-assets/banr/miscellaneous/dog_nutrition_final_fix.pdf - which seems to contradict the bit that says there's no nutritional requirement for carbs in a dog's diet. It also says that dogs can thrive on a vegetarian diet, so I don't think we should use that to back up our argument! Also, I'm going to be even more annoying and picky than Pawsforthought ( ) and say that where you've got "What does cooked grains offer to the diet with regard to vitamins, minerals and trace elements, that a wide range of meat protein sources (including offal such as, but not limited to, liver and kidneys) don’t?", it should be "What do cooked grains offer to the diet with regard to vitamins, minerals and trace elements, that a wide range of meat protein sources (including offal such as, but not limited to, liver and kidneys) don’t?" Sorry! I correct people when they're talking, never mind spelling - can't help myself! Or you could just take the s off the word 'grains' barley You know us well!

I want to be added in, but would feel like a hypocrite as I'm not a raw feeder; although it is a diet I strongly recommend to those who can do it!

Feel free to add my name caz2golden Roo, it's not hypocritical to want to present a balanced argument, even if it's for something you don't currently do!

Roo, I don’t see you have to be a raw feeder to add your name. If the last paragraph/question is putting people off adding their names then perhaps we need to re-word it? Alternatively should it be split it into two questions so that different people can add their names to the different aspects of the questions?

Count me in I can't see anything wrong in the wording of the proposed letter/email. Apart what has already been mentioned.

Haven't looked at the magazine yet so hadn't seen the question! Definitely think you should sent that off though! Brilliant idea! He often tries to advertise his own food on there. And funnily it always wins the product awards...

I can't think of anything else to add if we can't find the report to quote. All the main points we want answering are in there.

And funnily it always wins the product awards... Haha really? I haven't read Your Dog or Your Cat in years, glad I don't though if its like that. I mean if it was that obviously biased to Burns food, then what else is it saying just to please it's advertisers? I don't think I'd trust anything I read. They'd talk about the massive risk of some kind of worm or something and I'd be wondering if they were just saying what their advertisers were telling them so people would panic buy worming medication from whichever company they recommend, and when you read into the worm it might turn out there's virtually no risk or something.

I don't think some of the other experts are as bad. But unfortunately, whenever there's a food question, they ask John Burns and of course he's going to promote his own food. He'd be a bad business owner if he didn't! I think they'd be hard pushed to find a food manufacturer who is completely unbiased. So, in my opinion, it would be better they had more than one food expert so they could both give an opinion!

Try reading one of his questions or articles without him mentioning chicken! Virtually impossible! Especially when he was really new, it was chicken, chicken, chicken!!!
